In the past decade social media has found a prominent place in our society. With the increase in the electronic equipment such as televisions, cellphones, laptops, etc. people can gain an easy and fast access to the news from around the world. This has enabled social media to be an integral part of our daily lives. The social media is flooded with news from all around the world on different areas such as weather, sports, entertainment, public affairs, technological advancements etc. This paper is based particularly on how social media affects the politics and vice versa. In this modern society where people are always hooked on the social media, politicians have found a way to communicate with their prospective voters with the help of this platform. One prominent example of this is when president Barack Obama widened carried out his presidential campaign through social media sites in order to gain more popularity (Shear).
