Introduction
Crazy, Stupid, Love, a 2011 release by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra is a typical Hollywoodian exploration of relationships, primarily romantic with a labored start, positive and meaningful closing and a hilarious interim. The story of Cal, a simpleton striving through mid-life crisis takes a different spin as it combines with the second half of the plot - Jacob, a hedonist version of the super-charming Date Doctor Hitch in the eponymous film.
Jacob Palmer as the Pick-Up Artist
Jacob, played by Ryan Gosling has taken a lead in the movie parallel to Steve Carell’s effortless humorous performance. The appeal for divorce lying bare the pieces in which a marital relationship happens to be in after 25 years seals into the sprouting of an unlikely bromance. The alchemy between the player (Jacob) and his protégée pushes the plot further into what becomes a beguiling chick-flick, thanks to Gosling’s sculpted abs that earned the movie its genre.
It is needless to say that the Ryan Gosling as the pick-up artist has been a major boost up to the entertainment value of Crazy, Stupid, Love, despite sharing the screen with Golden Globe winners and Oscar nominated actors. With a special focus on the conversational style of the Casanova, it can be said that the movie has been ascended to the remarkable height of romantic comedy. Cal’s downwardly plunging life brings him to a local bar, where he has a chance encounter with Jacob, who takes pity on his haplessness and takes him on an expedition to self-discover and self-realization through reclamation of his manhood.

...-tips, Jacob successfully arms Cal to land a gorgeous date while helping him bring his derailed family life back to track. In the end, the movie imparts two messages, one of which is through Gosling as Jacob. The first message espouses and advocates the idea of monogamy, that every being is meant to have a soul mate and the objective lies in finding that ‘one’ who will make life better. The second message is that love alone cannot make a relationship survive. Too much focus on social and professional lives and lack of spark, or the X-factor can spoil the chemistry between two people romantically related in a relationship of marriage. The character of Jacob Palmer stands for the first, and though he has been off the track for a very long time, it is in Hannah that he found completion. Finally, his philandering nature found rest as his real self-found love in Hannah.
