Motivation in college is different. For starters, as a student, I have to be self-motivated. My parents are not here to make sure I get my work done and go to class. I have to find motivation in myself to go to class and get my work done. The number one thing that motivates me the most in college is the fact that I recognize this is not the end. I have to work hard to obtain where I want to be at in life. I identify that I did not want to settle with just being a high school graduate and wanted to do something additional with my life. Although I motivate myself, my family and friends also motivate me as well. I want my parents to be proud of my accomplishments and how far I have come to reach the goals I set for myself. My sister and brother motivate me to be the best role model I can for them.
We both have similar goals set for ourselves in the future of our career paths, and that allows us to bring the best out of each other. For myself, I want to become a physical therapist and that requires a few extra years of schooling after my undergraduate degree. My boyfriend is an animal science major planning to become a farm veterinarian. He and I both know that we have to have good grades and spend quite some time in school, but that is the goals that have been set by us. I learned that I am motivated in college by extrinsic goals, such as my family and friends. My second highest motivator would be task value. This is actually true for myself. If I find a topic more interesting and understand it better and want to annex whatever it is I have assigned done. I am extremely motivated by my performance. I was raised with the mindset if you are going to do something, might as well be proud of it. I want to set goals for my performance and attempt as much as I can reach my
