Student Success According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in 2007 about 41 percent of students who began seeking a bachelor’s degree failed to complete that degree within 6 years. College is a new beginning for me, and I do not want to be one of those who fail. Although college is challenging, I am going to succeed by using advice from others, by developing strategies, and by setting goals for myself. I know that college will be challenging for me because I am a recent high school graduate and college is new to me. In college, many things easily distract me, but in high school, the teachers kept me on track. Now I have to do this by myself. First, I will gain knowledge from Townsend press. This online tool to prepare for a test or quiz when I am about to take. In addition, I will make flash cards, so that I can have something else to study when I am on the go. In addition, I plan to utilize the Writing Center located in the library at my college. College is very difficult and I will use every strategy I can be successful. These strategies will help me take advantage of all the different benefits I will gain from going to college. One of my benefits is better communication skills with reading and writing. I will become a more efficient writer on my essays in English. A weakness I have is talking in front of a class or asking questions. College will help me gain confidence will my speaking ability. Although college is challenging, I am going to succeed by using advice from others, by developing strategies, and by setting goals for myself. College is not for everybody that is why I have to be focused on my goals if I want to be successful one day.
