What you a see in the below pictures is a water baptism. It is a special ceremony we carry out at our church. There is no traditional gown or dress code but in our church we wear white garments over our clothing. A white garment reflects that in Baptism we “put on Christ,” taking our new and truest identity as a son or daughter of God. We believe that baptism is a decree of the Lord by which those who have repented and come to faith express their union with Christ in His death and resurrection, by being immersed in water in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. It is a sign of belonging to the new people of God, and an emblem of burial and cleansing, signifying death to the old life of unbelief, and purification from the …show more content…

Baptism signifies: • death of the old self, • cleansing from the guilt and corruption of human sin, • salvation (being saved) from the wrath of God to come, • adoption as "sons of God", • identification (solidarity) with Jesus Christ himself. Baptism is an expression of faith and therefore only for believers. It is an expression of the faith of the one being baptized. It is not something that an unbeliever can do. It is not something than an infant can do. That is why we don’t baptize infants. Only once you are able to make the decision to fully commit your life in obedience to Gods command, then you can be baptised. My own experience was totally exhilarating. I felt such a peace and freedom once I “broke free from the water”. It felt as though all my past agony, failure, disappointment and bondage were broken. Language is used to preserve and transfer culture and cultural ties. Diverse ideas branch from differing language use within one’s culture and the whole intertwining of these relationships start at one’s birth. I have to agree with Confucius when he said that we are all born exactly the same; it is only once a child is exposed to their surroundings that they become individuals in and of their cultural group. Every individual’s views are dependent on the culture which has influenced them, as well as the language which has been shaped by that culture. The understanding of a culture and its people can be enhanced by the knowledge of their language. And learning a new language involves the learning of a new culture (Allwright & Bailey
