General Motors has been for the last 100 years a leader in American Industry. They dominated the automobile industry. General Motors made the middle class in America back in the 50s and 60s and in 1980s GM was the top car manufacturer in the USA until the arrival of the Japanese cars. General boasted the characteristic in the corporate world as being powerful, stubborn, monolithic, and authoritarian and it main concerns was the assembly lines, switch is called the seeds of success. General Motors was build in 1892 by an R. Olds who created the Oldsmobile his vision was to create horseless carriages. He started the automobile factory in Detroit and was soon followed by others in the industry, and he and several others decided to create amalgamation of over different companies. The new automobile entities became known as General Motors. Each new partner brought in his brand as they began consolidating (general Motors ,2014). Mr. Olds had a management style of controlling and strategy. He knew what needed to be done and he did it. He knew when to start merger and acquiring early in the game he established General Motors (general Motors ,2014). His vision and management style gave him the outcome that he was seeking Chief Executive Dan Akerson was introduced as CEO of General Motors after the governmental bail outs 2009, he inherited the same problems as his predecessors a staff of employees who could not make decisions and was still in an old school frame of mind. With the positive attitude the public has on green vehicles, this is a huge opportunity for General motors' to produce Hybrid and Electric cars that emit less Carbon Dioxide. also with the increasing fuel prices General Motors is capitalizing on this new but ever more expanding market. General Motors still has many treats that Ms. Barra will have to deal with. With the new emission standards meaning stricter regulation on vehicle emission may negatively affect General Motors cash flow. The company will have to invest large amount of time and resources in order to comply with the new regulations. with the intense competition of others automobile companies like Toyota and with the Raising Raw Material Prices this will be Marry Barra main goal as General Motors CEO to overcome these challenges
