The Girl I Used To Be was written by April Henry and published in 2016. This book is about a girl named Ariel Benson. Well she was born Ariel Benson but is now called Olivia. In this book you will find that (back then) Ariel’s mother was killed and her father dissapered. Alot of this book has to do with the real world. It was inspired by a real case from the 1980s. April added in her life expernces with her mom. Henry grew up in in Medford and a large portion of this book was written here. She pur eveything she loved about Medford in this book. Forteen years ago now Olivia’s perents went missing and she was found at a Walmart over a 100 miles away. Her mom was later found with 19 stabb wones out in the wood without Olivia’s father. With just finding Ariel’s mother everyone in town thinks that Ariel’s father Terry did it and has fled the United States. Ariel ends up with her grandmother but she soon dies and Ariel is places into foster care. …show more content…

Terry’s family are having his funural so on her way there she decied to stop by her grandmothers old house. At this point Nora tells Olivia lots of information about her family and ends up asking her to take her to Terry’s feneral. This is a preferct cover for her. With being aroud family member that she doesn’t know or have been around makes it even harder to keep her past a sercret.
