Allegiant
Allegiant is based in the future of Chicago. Within Chicago, there are five factions. You are normally born into your faction, but when you turn sixteen you take a test to see which faction you best belong in. The five factions are Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless, and Erudite.
Abnegation are usually unselfish and caring, Amity are peaceful, Candor are honest, Dauntless are brave, and Erudite are intelligent. Each faction is different from the next and they are designed so that people can be with other people that have the same characteristics as themselves.
The main character, Beatrice “Tris” Prior, is a teenage girl from Abnegation. However, she feels like she does not belong in Abnegation, and when she takes her test, she discovers that she is the same with all five factions. This means she is Divergent, or neutral between the factions. There are very few people who have this ability and she is one of them.
When she decided to join Dauntless, she surprised her parents and had to leave her home. At Dauntless headquarters, she met her soon-to-be best friends Chris...

Each represents a different virtue of living one’s life. The children of this society have to decide whether they want to stay in their faction or switch to another, the choice is theirs. They developed a serum that stops the brain’s thought process and all of the Dauntless become sleeper soldiers for they were injected with it. The serum does not work on Tris or Tobias “Four” Eaton because they are both Divergent. When they try to escape they are both caught and brought to Jeanine, the Erudite leader.
