The entrepreneurial profile
From what we have discussed so far, we have emphasised that it is the entrepreneur who creates success.

Entrepreneurs do it differently.

So, you need to know, can I be my own boss?
Do I have what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur?

In order to do this, you will need to ask yourself difficult questions and give yourself very honest answers. Remember that there is no judgment here – this is all being done in an attempt to make YOU successful in your future enterprise.

A few of these difficult questions are:
• Do you understand what will be expected of you?
• Are you aware that most of your business success depends on your own efforts?

Do you think that you will need this type of support? Why or why not?
• Will you be able to handle the many problems that go with owning your own business? Do you handle stress appropriately?
• How will you cope if your business is not successful? Do you have the outgoing, friendly kind of personality that will help you to cope with the obstacles and take on the challenges of long-term growth?
• Do you have the positive outlook and energy needed to carry on, during even the toughest times?

Take a look at yourself
To make sure that you have all the tools that you need to be successful in your own enterprise, we will now take a close look at your values, your personal preferences, your abilities and your life goals.

It is extremely important that you do not fool yourself (or lie to yourself) about your skills, what you can and cannot do well, what you want from life and where your strengths and weaknesses lie.

This self-knowledge is the starting point – if you get this right and know what you need to work on and where you are strong, your chances of success are far greater as your goals are likely to be more realistic.
