1.The final presentation for my international monetary system class was to be delivered by groups of four, and the group members were assigned by our professor. Two members of my group, as I knew, had trouble understanding most materials we had covered in class. Another member of our group, concerning about the negative influences on our group grade if those two members messed up our presentation, suggested that we should leave those two members alone and finish the presentation by ourselves. I totally understood his concern, but I insisted that those two members, even struggling with the materials in class, still deserved their chance to finish the presentation as part of our group. This mistake brought us so much extra work that we might have trouble meeting the deadline. In order to turn the table, efficient cooperation and communication were necessary. Therefore, with the suggestions of my senior, I reorganized the work division according to my colleagues' specialties and preferences to reduce overlaps between their duties and boost work efficiency. At the same time, I collected my colleagues’ ideas about the ways of improving efficiency and shared this information during our daily meetings. With more explicit labor division and more effective communication, we were able to meet the deadline. This success not only prevented our auditing firm from suffering reputational and financial losses, but also became an important lesson for my career development: a business leader should be open to feedback and able to make decisions based on that, because assignments involved in daily operation are often too complicated to any single person, especially during emergencies. In another perspective, a qualified business leader, literally, is supposed to lead and inspire people rather than do all the work by himself/herself, so efficient information share becomes necessary. I have kept working out for five years. The trigger for my workout life was quite simple: I had to lose some weight. Being overweight not only resulted in frequent prejudice against me but also brought inconvenience into my daily activities, even though no serious health problems had been incurred. Therefore, I made a workout plan and have been sticking to it since then. Training during the first few months was an ordeal, and on several occasions I almost gave up. However, every gust of pain flowing through my body paid off. I am no longer a fat boy, but workout has become an indispensable component of my lifestyle, representing the way I express my passion to academic and professional careers: no pain, no gain. I truly appreciate the diligence and tenacity I gained during the past five years, because they not only provide me with a good body shape but also become part of my personal identity. Last summer, I only had one month to prepare for my Fund Practice Qualification Exam. Being a fund manager in China is part of my long-term career goal, and I hoped to get the qualification before getting overwhelmed by professional work after my graduation. Therefore, I spent eight hours a day on preparation during that month without a break, and fortunately I passed the exam and got the qualification that pushed me towards my career goal.
