Attention Gaining Device: According to the American Academy of Dermatology, “Thirty-five percent of American adults, 59 percent of college students, and 17 percent of teens have reported using a tanning bed in their lifetime.”
Relevance: There is no such thing as a tan that is healthy and safe.
Credibility: The World Health Organization says that “A suntan may be cosmetically desirable, but in fact it is nothing but a sign that your skin has been damaged and has attempted to protect itself.”
Preview: First, we will examine why tanning is so unhealthy for our skin. Next, I will share what harmful things tanning can do to your body. Lastly, we will discuss whether it is safer to tan in the natural sunlight or tan in a tanning bed.
Transition: Although we all love tanning and the dark golden skin, tanning is bad news.
