The movie Taken is directed by Paul Morel and scripted by Luc Bresson with the assistance of Robert Mark Kamen. Brian Mills (Liam Neeson), the main character of the movie, plays the character of a former spy who is divorced. He spent many hours serving the United States, which destroyed the relationship with his ex-wife. In order to stay close with his daughter, he left his job. In the movie his daughter goes on vacation to France. However, things take a turn when she is kidnapped while in France. A human trafficking ring based in Paris kidnapped her. The trafficking ring was made up of mainly Albanian men that kidnap girls in order to sell them to other men for sex. Mills’ daughter was sold to an Arab sheikh. Sex trade is a serious issue and hurts the victims in many different ways. Women are forced to fear the unthinkable because sex trafficking and the normalization of prostitution is occurring every single day. According to arkofhopeforchildren.org, there are over 4 million victims each year to human trafficking. Also, 59% of the victims are women and 17% of the victims are girls (arkofhopeforchildren.org). Human trafficking is not only an issue in the United States of America, but all over the world. The scariest part about the industry is that it is on the rise. The industry makes up for over 32 billion dollars a year, which is an alarming number to think about (arkofhopeforchildren.org). The victims are sexually and mentally abused as they are kidnapped, sold off and maybe even killed. The movie is trying to point out a problem that is occurring throughout the entire world. It takes into consideration the dangers of women that travel by themselves. Also, it shows that women are seen as objects rather than people.
