The book Renting Lacy: A Story of America’s Prostituted Children by Linda Smith addresses the topic of the underground world of child sex trafficking. Unfortunately, it is a topic that has been purposefully neglected in our society for many years. The author presents every chapter with a real story of a sexually exploited child. The stories are intense, powerful but especially touching which makes the reader feel frustrated, desperate, and vexed. After every chapter, Smith tries to include commentaries that presents a deeper understating about human trafficking. She hopes that the readers are moved to act against this huge issue that is taking over the life of innocent children. As I stated already, Smith may assume that the best way to make people aware about this problem or to educate them is by sharing real life stories of children who were victims of sex trafficking. However, I’m certain that there is people out there that will believe that these victims choose to live “the life.” nevertheless, there will always be people who will do nothing to make a change and stop sex trafficking, it can almost believe that these people are cowards and are afraid to deal with reality. On the other hand, Linda Smith who advocates for social justice did a great job in writing this book because even though there could be many people ignoring this problem many others are getting educated through this book to act towards such cruel practice, and saving the life of a young relative of …show more content…

Tears of sadness, fear, but especially of anger. As I read the stories in the book I couldn’t resist but, putting myself in the shoes of many of those victims which made me feel in pain and disgusted. I can’t even imagine my little sisters in a situation like this. It makes me feel disgusted knowing that there are people who pay to have sex with a child, what kind of human beings are they? I can’t resist than to think that as I am here typing this reflection there are millions of children obligated to sell their innocence. Despite my ignorance towards this issue I know I can’t stay still. And I have hope that one day the victims of sex trafficking will be reunited with a life that doesn’t not require them to sell their body but instead a life that will show them that after all they are human
