George Washington had won the battle of Trenton.
After being routed by British troops under the command of Sir William, Washington led his troops across the Delaware river on Christmas day in 1776.
They then marched to Trenton and ambushed Hessian troops, decisively defeating them.
During the darkest times of the war, George Washington and his troops were forced to take refuge in Valley Forge.
Over 2,000 troops had died, and morale was extremely low.
Washington managed to convince the troops to stay and fight.
George Washington had won the battle of Yorktown.
With the aid of a French blockade, Washington and his troops were able to siege and capture Yorktown.
After the battle, it became pretty clear that the colonists would win the Revolutionary

It was the turning point of the war for the future president and his army, and it provided the first great victory for the young American county. The rest, as they say, is history.
