Why does school want to take away the one thing that students are looking forward to at the end of the year, which is Summer vacation, and switch it for a new plan of 3-4 weeks in summer, one week in fall and winter off, and a longer winter break? Students should not allow schools to ditch the idea of having summer off, and replacing it with this new system. Schools should keep their old ways of taking days of because, Students can get more time looking for a job/college, Students can get education if they fail with summer schools, and Students can get enjoyment of finally having school over for a while.

First, schools should not change the way of breaks because, how would they help people with summer school? Students who can not pass the SOL’s have a chance to retake it in summer school, however if they do change break weeks, then how will summer school even run anymore? The solution is, they can not run it anymore if breaks were changed. Nobody wants to be denied a second chance to do something over, so why take it away from people who would like to pass and move on? Students would have a lot of pressure to deal with if these breaks because, it doesn’t give them time to do homework, or having fun only to realize the time was short. There is a better answer, if students have time for a three month summer, then they have time to get a job or apply for a college. It takes a long time to write all the application work and then even worse, time to get a interview. School would hinder their time to get something set up, which it could ruin the chance of getting that dream job, or being accepted in a college.
