Spray painting is a disputable subject. Some observe the workmanship and are irritated, some are disturbed, some are charmed, and others encounter it and are roused. When I see spray painting, I see a story: a history, a present, and a future. My freshly discovered interest enlivened me to discover how this type of workmanship started. At first glance it would seem that graffiti art is more complex than graffiti tagging. While a main feature of tagging is opportunity--how fast can the artist tag and not be caught?--, this is not the case for graffiti art (Austin, 2010, p. 35). It is usually a picture or a composition of some sort, often referred to as masterpieces or pieces for short in graffiti culture (Rahn, 2002). In a masterpiece artists plan the composition and the ideal location where their vision can be achieved. A third form of graffiti is a throw-up which is one step higher than tagging and involves only lettering and two colors. Graffiti is an art form that was bred from the rebellion of youths. The first sighting of graffiti was seen on subways, and other impoverished areas around New York. This form involved what is called tagging , where the artist signs his or her name, nickname, or group name, on the side of a building or other surface. It is well known for its bold, colorful presence and intricate script. It is still prominent and visible in those areas of the Bronx today.

To begin with, graffiti is exhibited in many museums and galleries along with art. London is home to many galleries that showcase graffiti, such as the Lawrence Alkin Gallery. If graffiti is displayed in galleries along with art, this should qualify it as such. Secondly, art has changed and is still changing throughout many phases, from the era of cave painting to the era of postmodernism and deconstructivism. Graffiti has also gone through many movements and changes in style, from the first simple scribble to the large murals. Its display in galleries and its development into more complex forms suggest that it is a form of art.
