Cricket has always been a game dominated by batsmen and producing good bowlers is always a challenge, specifically spin bowlers. Spin bowling, that noble art of googlies, flippers, top spinners with the ball hissing from one direction to the other is more difficult than running in full steam a la Shoaib Akthar. The former is more about deceiving batsman with variations, loop and the dip rather than terrorizing the batsman with pace. Conventional wisdom sees spin bowling as an arrow which must be taken out of the quiver either in the dustbowls of the sub-continent or to contain the batsman. Indian spinners today have performed much better: in fact our spinners have taken a wicket every 25 runs in the series; that resembles Shane Warne rather than Rajesh Chauhan.
