Softball has been played for some time now, by many people and by different countries . In fact softball was a creation by a man that also helped give people the idea of baseball as well. Till this very day softball has been apart of the olympics since the early 1990’s . When trying to get softball into the olympics wasn’t as easy as getting baseball into the olympics. The new candidates for the new Olympic softball team can easily help get them back in the game, and maybe make history.
The General assembly has only two options to vote, while following the rules that they were given (“Bautista” para. 3). The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has exposed and expelled any scandal that wasn't good, and got to determine the future locations of the games (“Bautista” para. 1). Over six permanent members of the organization of (IOC), was said to have committed crimes, when grant the olympics to Salt Lake City, causing permanent expulsion (“Bautista” para. 2). If they look in the tangled web of bribery within the (IOC) they will see that they throw out the old elements (“Bautista” para.5). During the 2006 winter olympics site, there was a trial basis that was held for a few months,that will also be put to test during that 2006 year olympic site (“Bautista” para. 3).

Just think of all the little kids that are looking forward to, or having dreams about being on the USA Olympic Team. With me playing softball my whole life, and thinking that I will not be able to play. If you have younger siblings that watch you grow up and want to do everything that you do. You have to set an example up for them no matter what that is, and if you play a sport they are going to want to play that sport as well. And you do not want to let them down, especially when you’re the parent watching the kids grow up. So just think about all the younger kids that had hopes of becoming an olympic softball player, put them to mind when you vote and want to take away a sport that you think is pointless to our athletic program.
The first reason is, softball players have less time to react to the ball while batting and fielding. Softball fields are closer and smaller than baseball fields. Baseball infields are 16,700 feet and softball infields are only 7,200 feet. This leaves softball players in the infield, outfield and the batters with less time to react to a pitch or a hit. Though the practices performed within softball literacy do not immediately seem as if they should be considered a literacy practice, according to two of the six propositions about the nature of literacy, it is. Not only does it involve the physical performance from a play, but also includes formal writings, new rules and regulations, and offer different rules in different countries. I think softball should be counted as a literacy practice because it appeals to Barton and Hamilton’s propositions and includes artifacts that make it a community and artifacts that provide the players with essential people skills.
Since 776 BCE, the Olympics have been a way for people of different cultures to come together and compete in friendly competition. In 1892 the first modern Olympics were held in Athens, although it had been over a thousand years since the last game it still had brought together an assortment of different religions and ethnic groups together. Many factors shaping the Olympic Games reflect the changes that have taken place in our world since the last game in 393 CE in Greece such changes include woman’s suffrage, global economy, world wars, and proving competency.
Over the past fifteen to twenty years women's fastpitch softball popularity has continued to grow and spread internationally. By the mid-1990s it was played in more than 85 countries under the eye of the International Softball Federation (ISF). It has become increasingly popular among women at the youth and collegiate levels. More than 630 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) member institutions sponsor women's softball programs, and national championships for women are held in all three NCAA sports divisions (Encarta, 1998). In 1991 women's fastpitch softball was selected to debut as a medal sport in the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Columbia, Georgia. The U.S. won the gold medal in the 1996 Olympic Games due to a good defense and great hitters on the team. Even though defense and pitching are critical and vital parts of the game, a successful team must have an effective offense to win the game. Among all the standout hitters on the U.S. Olympic team, two of the best are Dot Richardson and Lisa Fernadez. Both Lisa and Dot have picture-perfect swings, which have made them very productive throughout their careers. Today there is a women's professional fastpitch softball league. Interest in the Women's Professional Softball League (WPSL) has been increasing for the last three years and continues to grow each year.
Of all the sports that I have seen I can say with all confidence I never thought softball would be my sport. When I first thought about playing softball I thought I could never do it. Then, as I finally agreed to play softball, I was completely petrified. I got on the field and the first thing I did was mess up and I messed up badly. I barely could catch a ball here, I was standing there watching everyone play like pros.
When softball was first thought of, this was not a problem as the game was played inside. It was originally used by baseball players to keep their muscles warm while having a little fun during the off season. When deciding what player to pick for this assignment, I had no problem at all. Jennie Finch is by far the most well-known softball player. Jennie was a three-time All-American pitcher and first baseman at the University of Arizona.
As I became more familiar with my identity, it became obvious that I am not just an aficionado of softball, but that I identify as a softball player, and that my sport constructed my character as a whole. Softball began forming my identity the day I joined a team. From a very young age, I learned how to efficiently manage my time, cooperate well with others, and accept failure; however, many of my peers fail to recognize the impact this sport has made on my life.
The Olympics are supposed to be a time of peace and a time where countries could come together and be free from politics. The Olympics are also a time where nations should put away their differences and celebrate the reason why they came to participate in the games, which was to play sports. Throughout history, many of the Olympics have lived up to this expectation. At the same time, there have also been some Olympics that have not lived up to this expectation because they have been experienced boycotts, political protests, and even violence. The politics in the Olympics need to be kept out because it there is no place for it. The 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow is an example of one Olympics that was not free from politics because of the boycott started by the U.S.

Baseball is a very well known sport and often known as “America’s pastime” and softball is highly similar, but with a few key differences. Many people just assume that the sport of baseball is more difficult than softball, but don’t actually know the specific parts of each of the two. Also, if you’ve never played one or the other sport, you shouldn’t be assuming anything at all in the first place. Although many assume one may be harder than the other, baseball and softball both have particular factors which make them both complex in their own way.

This documentary takes the opportunity to highlight the battle behind the lead up to the 2016 Olympic Games and explores the problems that host nation Rio de Janeiro is going through, problems that the International Olympic Committee does not want people to know. Embroiled in scandals, and mistreatment of its own citizens Rio de Janeiro is looking to set an example to the rest of the world on how not to prepare for hosting an Olympic Games.
I believe that softball isn’t just something you just start for no reason. There’s always some underlying reason as to why you continue to play the game. I started when I was about 5 years old and at that age it may have been because of my parents wanting me to play a sport, but once I decided that I wanted to keep playing as I got older, my parents never made me. I just wanted to keep playing because I loved it. As you get older and learn more about the skill it becomes more about your love for the game than anything else. Yes, it’s definitely fun to play with your friends and have team bonding, but it’s also such a satisfying feeling when you win. I think that I play the game because I just have a love for it. For the past few years there has been a very controversy issue that has been plaguing the Summer Olympics. The Summer Olympics was first held in 1896, it’s an international multi-sport where athletes around the world come to compete with other athletes from different countries. There are many events that are held in the Summer Olympics ranging from Track and Field all the way to Volleyball and Basketball. In each Olympic event there are medals that earned to the winners, the first place winners get a gold medal, the second place winners get a silver medal, and the third place winners gets a bronze medal.
