Enrolling in this course seemed to be challenging and out of reach for me at the beginning, but as we completed our first few lectures and assignments I knew that I would undoubtedly improve my reading, speaking, and analyzation skills in Spanish. It came time for creating our first presentation, which would be presented in front of the entire class, without note cards all from memory. I never really had to read, analyze, and summarize an article in any of my previous courses, especially in Spanish. While taking Spanish classes in high school, I was just handed a worksheet with specific instructions to prepare a PowerPoint and note cards about casual and nonchallenging things. Even though I was captain of my speech team for my junior and senior year of high school, I have never been the best at giving presentations in front of my peers individually. Doing presentations in English became more of a usual and easy task for me, but doing them in Spanish has been very rare. The fact that I don’t speak Spanish daily as I should, puts me at a struggle when trying to say things. Sometimes I want to say things but I end up saying the opposite of what I meant. A sentence where I did this was: “al igual ah dijo también que iba a contratar a diez mil refugiados um porque no estaba desacuerdo .... estaba en desacuerdo con la orden ejecutiva.” Since I didn’t take the time to think of what I was going to say or maybe practice it, even more, I said the opposite of what I was aiming to emit. My friends that don’t speak or understand Spanish say that when I am speaking in Spanish I speak way too fast, which is something that I have noticed of myself as I learn to more comfortably speak it. It’s a fast-paced language making it more probable to mistaken words that can completely change the meaning of what I am trying to
