After seeing "The Sound of Music", I can truthfully state that I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. This 1965 drama/romance musical movie was thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable.
The movie starts out in the hills near an Abby in Austria. A woman is singing, she literally runs for the hills when the bells begin to chime. It is soon found out that this woman is trying to become a nun and has just missed another session. The head nun, Reverend Mother as she is called, says that Maria should probably take some time away from the Abby to see if she can expect herself to live up to the standards/rules of life that she would face at the Abby. Reverend Mother assigns her to be the governess for Naval Officer Vantrap's seven children for several months. Upon her arrival, Maria discovers that the children living in the house are to act like true sailors and come upon a whistle signal. With Maria being her freedom loving self, she can't let herself sit by and hold these children to these standards. Things soon begin to change for the Vantrap family. All …show more content…

The music in the movie was jaw dropping fantastic and made even me appreciate that it was a musical. The plot moved along somewhat slow at first, but leading up to and after the intermission, the plot picked up very fast. It was all around a very entertaining plot. I also thought that the scenery in the movie was amazingly captured and that the script was very well written. I did not have anything that I particularly disliked about this movie, but there were a few scenes that could have been condensed and a few that could have been lengthened. One moral of the story that stood out to me was: sometimes all it takes is a little bit of courage to stand up for what you believe in to start a revolution. This stands out when Maria begins to stand up for the kids-though she could be punished and sent back to the Abby- and soon they began to side with her and take back their
