People use social media for many different reasons. Some people use social media to stay in contact with their families and friends. Social media also can be used for the wrong things, but the question is: Should people be allowed to be anonymous online? My answer is NO because it’s a lot of negative things are going on social media today that need to be stopped such as sex trafficking, cyber bullying, and identity theft. If the person is unknown then law enforcement officers have a hard time finding the culprits and making them suffer the consequences.
Sex trafficking is the biggest thing going on in society today. Sex traffickers are after all ages now days including toddlers on the internet and they are posing as somebody else or an unknown person. They are pulling up in stolen vehicles asking little kids to come with them or just taking them to who knows where. There are people on social media everyday asking has anyone seen their child. Sex traffickers are so good that sometimes police can never find who they are. I wish there was a better way for the police to stop sex trafficking. Teenagers are starting to commit suicide because of cyber bullying because they are tired of getting picked by others. Nowadays teenagers are afraid to talk to their parents about them getting cyber bullied on the internet. People who have fake social media pages or are unknown can easily cyber bully individuals and sometimes never get caught. People take cyber bullying for granted everyday not knowing whether it’s their sister, aunt, or cousin that’s getting cyberbullied. People are getting years in prison for cyber bullying. My opinion is that social media creators screen participants on social media before allowing them to set up a page.
