Throughout this course, I have gained knowledge to help me gain a higher chance of success within my life. Through class discussions as well as the required text, Servant Leadership, I have been able to increase my comprehension regarding entrepreneurial thinking. In order to utilize my new found understanding, I must therefore apply the knowledge to my current path, which is set to lead me down a road with stops at law school as well as the Peace Corps. Furthermore, in order to properly walk such a path, I must also address my strengths and opportunities that have the ability to give me a competitive advantage within the job market. The first day of class we went over what entrepreneurial thinking is. According to my notes, it was defined as, “The ability to recognize opportunities and understand how and when to capitalize on them.” We then went on to discuss the way in which an entrepreneurial lifestyle flows beyond the business world. I was personally relieved to hear such news as it was clear throughout the course that my chosen career path into law, was the outlier within the room. I did however realize through class discussions that my chosen career path can include far more curiosity than it entails as of now. I find that I often have blinders on as I have visualized on such a specific career goal. Discussions within class taught me that it would be wise for me to work to improve my curiosity. While I do already find pleasure in learning, I must grow to understand that caring about everything besides my set specificity will only help me. I am still young, and while I have dreamed of my chosen career for years, I may still change my mind of the type of law I would like to pursue, as well as even law school itself. I may also curve my strengths to correlate as well. An entrepreneurial thinker is one who is self-aware. After reading the Wall Street Journal and understanding this aspect of successful entrepreneurs, I honestly feel as if I am doing well with my personal self-awareness. I am also handling risk management well as I am an RA and in charge of risk management for my sorority. I also feel strongly regarding my ambition, creativity, aggressiveness, tenacity, integrity, judgement, and leadership. As previously mentioned, I can stand to work on my curiosity, communication, and optimism as I am a realist. I can also stand to further my resource management, courage, and business skills. These attributes that I hope to work toward gaining and perfecting will ultimately help in me perfecting the entrepreneurial thought process as well as the behaviors of an entrepreneur.
