Buzz, buzz, buzz, the alarm clock sounded off again, trying to get my attention. Awaking from a deep sleep, I remembered that today I would learn about shooting an M-16 rifle. I arose quickly, not wanting to be late, dressed hurriedly in my camouflage utilities and raced out of the door to my car. I could not get to the rifle range fast enough. As I was driving, my thoughts raced and my stomach turned as I wondered if I would be able to hit the target. Would the rifle be too heavy? Would I pass the test? Round and round my thoughts whirled the entire drive. Upon reaching my destination, I pulled into the parking lot. In fact, the test was uncannily accurate. The test was also unbiased in that the personalities were not rated as one being better than the other. I am an introvert, always have been. I have always thought that society prefers extroverts over introverts. I would have preferred the results showed positive aspects of each type. In the Sensing – Intuition category I am more sensing. Sensing-Intuition is the first pair of cognitive functions and the preference for how you prefer to be served information; through the five senses or from the subconscious (Jungian/Myers-Briggs Personality Type test. 2016). The next category is Feeling – Thinking. In this portion of the assessment I am more feeling than thinking. Feeling-Thinking is the second pair of cognitive functions, the judging functions, which are used to evaluate goals; either through personal values or objective principles (2016). The last category is Judging – Perceiving. This section reveals the kind of intellectual process I prefer to use. Judging is a preference for a structured lifestyle and the use of feeling and thinking while perceiving is the preference for a flexible lifestyle and the use of sensing and intuition (2016).
