Personal Narrative: Self Personality Assessment

After completing the assessment exercise I have been able to carefully my personality. The exercise consisted of an evaluation of four areas: Locus of Control, Personality Type, Stress Reactions, and Learning Styles.

Based on the test results my locus of control is external. According to our text, Individuals who fall into this category do not believe that their future is within their control. They believe that it is more influenced by external forces. I agree somewhat with this assessment of myself. Although I also feel that some portions of our lives can be influenced greatly by our own inner desires and motivations. My interests are also centered on the outside world. This is consistent with the description at the end of the exercise. I thrive in situations where I can be around and mingle with large groups of people. I grew up in a very large family and this helped to shape my personality. However, I do enjoy quiet time and occasionally working on my own.

My personality type is Extroverted, intuitive, feeling, perceptive or ENFP. According to the description in the exercise, ENFP's are warm, enthusiastic and live their outer life more with intuition and their inner more with feeling. I also want to be involved in the goal setting process for the company and myself. Although I enjoy working with people, I need a high degree of independence to flourish. I also want to work with a manager who is interested in creating a motivating environment. Positive reinforcement is the tool that appeals to me the most. I would like to be rewarded as I achieve a goal or set a new standard.

I work well in group situations. I always try to encourage all members to participate and contribute. It is interesting to note that in most situations, I tend to be one of the group leaders. I do have a strong personality. Yet I try not to come across as controlling or bossy.
