Scientific method is important because it gives a systematic and proven method to look at information. Historically scientific method has been used as far back and further then ancient Greece. Aristotle used a system called the Organon. The system used in addition to careful observation, a scientific method requiring a logical system of reasoning for properly arranging, and also inferring beyond, what is known by observation. Some of the methods of reasoning used included induction, prediction, or analogy, among others. (Andersen, 2016) Scientific method is defined as a body of practices used to investigate phenomena, acquire new knowledge, or even integrate or correct former knowledge. Scientific method at its basic level is based on measurable …show more content…

We need ____? What happens if we _____? Knowing the questions to ask is the most important part of scientific method. The questions are stated and many times are meant to be a source of discussion and stimulation according to Neil Salkinds text Exploring research move a specific research project in a direction. He also stated that they rarely come from a classroom or Lab but from individual experiences and/or imagination. They also draw from earlier research. (Salkind, 2012) After "asking the question" the next step is to "Identifying the Important Factors". There can be a broad ranges of factors from simplistic to complex. There are an unlimited number of factors that could be used for consideration but some of the common themes to are the following (Salkind, 2012):
• Have not been investigate …show more content…

Working with the Hypothesis involves the processes of look at both the data collected and the test results and if it confirms the hypothesis. (Salkind, 2012) Taking stock of the related research conducted the next step is to Reconsider the Theory. This part of the process is when you look at other phenomena using the hypothesis, and see if it will or can predict the results of new observations (Michael, 2002) At last the final step of the scientific method is to ask New Questions. It can be anything from a variation of the initial questions to something that was reveled during any stage in the process. Even if the hypothesis is or isn't supported good research will leave you much farther along the quest to answering the original question. (Salkind, 2012) Showing the importance of Scientific method is the fact of the massive amount of advances with the scientific world in the last 100 years. We have gone from horse drawn carriages to traveling exploring our solar
