In analyzing the prescribed title, “Suspension of disbelief” is an essential feature of theatre, it is important to define what “Suspension of disbelief” is in relation to the arts before focusing on the question, “How can a knower justify ignoring logic for the sake of imaginative facts?” For this title, Suspension of disbelief will be defined as being able to withhold a person’s logical knowledge for the sake of believing in the unbelievable. For example, In Nightmare on Elms Street, the audience knows that Freddy Krueger is a fictional character; however, the audience needs to have their logical intuition to perceive the fear associated with the film. Also, it is unlikely that a person will face being killed by a man with wolverine claws, but people’s imagination will run wild even though our logical intuition tells us there nothing there. Therefore by having a discernible experience such as the irrational fear of believing someone is in your house which is shared knowledge with the characters, people are able to enter a suspension of belief to perceive the unbelievable. (Need Thesis) In the area of Natural Sciences, new advances in the field are proposed by theorized conclusions before the theory is ever tested or proved.
