The following piece of evidence demonstrates my mastery of the ability to analyze policy issues/problems using different methodologies, fitting under the second NASPAA competency of the ability to participate in and contribute to the policy process. For PAD 6207 Public Finance Management our final group project consisted of developing a memorandum as a proposal for building a hypothetical community center for Osceola County. In particular, the 2b competency compels the student can employ sophisticated analytical techniques to render a policy analysis or evaluation that provides new insights and actionable items for policy makers.
The memorandum was also created by a group of students, including myself as well were assigned different parts to work on as we all acted as student liaisons with Osceola County. The memo was written with two options in mind. The first option required the renovation of a vacant fire station and partnering

By being involved in the proposal process for a new community center, our group paper satisfies the ability to participate in and contribute to the policy process. As noted in the paper itself, Osceola County’s mission is, “to bring people and resources together to achieve the community’s vision.” Buildings like community centers have the potential to bring communities closer together when there are many local activities hosted in one center. Our group found that this is what Osceola County needed for there to bring even more interconnectedness, as this would potentially bring more employment opportunities, networking events, partnerships while potentially decreasing crime and poverty in the
Additionally, it’s important to keep personnel in mind when drafting a department’s mission statement, for all too often, leadership in fire departments create mission statements that sound great to those outside of the fire department, but it is either confusing to personnel or just plain out impractical (Brennan, 2010).
...urrent businesses in place are not enough to put our city on the map, or to interest its youth. I urge our community to step forward, and our city officials to regard this with care. My proposal is best for the community as it does not require changes to current buildings, but instead encourages entirely new businesses to revive a wary group of consumers, and protect our youth from starting down a dangerous path. How else can we ever get the weatherman to list our city on the map?
House Bill 5 is a dense legislative bill describing the new requirements for graduation from Texas High Schools. The bill specifically addresses four areas of concern including: curriculum, assessment, accountability and higher education (Texas Association of School Administrators).
Another area where I have demonstrated expert competency is in the area of applying innovation. Anderson et al., (2013) asserts competency is demonstrated in this field through the use of “new resources, methods, tools or content to advance training and development” (p. 82). For each cycle of training development my team seeks new tools and training development features with excellent reviews that can be implemented in the training. Doing this has greatly improved the quality and content of the training

Essentially, researchers combine forces with the community and persons of interest to identify resources and information that combat a community’s deficit. By mapping these resources, managers can effectively research solutions to existing ...
S: The vision. When I came to Edmonton the first time, I noticed there was not as much community. You can have community spaces and community engagement, but at the end of the day, everyone goes home and that’s it. I was looking to create a space where we can have ongoing relationships and where people can meet to create community building.
The key role of my job is to provide high quality economic advice to enable well rounded and informed policy judgments. I am also required to analyze competition and regulatory issues and concerns and apply standard economic analysis to conduct investigations and inform decisions on regulation and deregulation. This role will involve drafting and presenting policy proposals and economic advice to the Executive Board. It provides oversight for the administration and research activity of a bureau’s economic analysis function; reviewing staff work assignments, scheduling projects and activities as well as prioritizing projects to ensure work is completed in a timely and orderly manner. Another thing that is expected is the guarantee of the production of proposals and decision documents, which means being responsible for the quality of the outputs from the team and ensuring they adopt the best practice in program management and control. A coherent economic approach has been applied across different projects and this entails leading meetings with external stakeholders.
Needs assessments are imperative to the success of a project. They are an essential part of the planning process. A need assessment guides the administrators as they define the terms of the project. A needs assessment is defined as, “a systematic approach to studying the state of knowledge, ability, interest, or attitude of a defined audience or group involving a particular subject” (McCawley, 2009, p. 3). An effective needs assessment provides insight, information, is objective, and assists in identifying gaps in services.

...ion provided by the municipality in the meeting and the interview it seems that they memorandum can be executed in a short timeframe. The appropriate parties have already begun to discuss the changes that will be made to make this partnership result in a positive outcome for the city and the county.
Commitment to community is a requirement for contemporary Americans and vital to its survival. “Love thy neighbor as thyself” is the unselfish act of sharing: from a cup of sugar to a wealth of information to the guardianship of all children involved and the protection of every individual in that said community. Whether that community consists of the “Classic Neighborhood, those with a common set of goals, or those who share a common identity” the thread that holds this matrix together is always woven into the shared identity as well as responsibility of all involved. (Redmond, 2010). A community cannot continue to exist through the will of withdrawn individuals who arms only embrace themselves and have no involvement whatsoever with neighbors one door away.
The study of the present literature, precedents, case studies and interviews with the communities has assisted in finding a conclusion based on observation. The goal of this observation is to develop an architecture that develops the research findings that will translate into a meaningful architecture which will enhance social integration. The philosophy behind this architecture is that it satisfies human needs by expressing meaning to the community.
While trying to examine how my community has changed economically since the 80's, I found myself pondering what my community really was. I have had the unfortunate experience to understand how a person can feel as if they don't really belong. Since I had moved about nine times within my life, and I am only eighteen years old, I became stuck, without any ideas of what to write about. While facing this assignment, I realized that I did not know if I had a place I would consider my "community," or even my true "home."
Frequently however, issues arise amongst a community that need attention. In this essay I will outline and discuss some of these issues and the interventions, projects or programmes designed and used to tackle and combat them. The three models of intervention or, ‘Community Development’, I will discuss in this essay, "Social Planning", "Community Development", and "Social/Community Action", all have the same aim regardless of how it is accomplished and this is to improve and maintain the conditions which affect the lives of the community.
