Mr. and Mrs. Jacques moved to the Unites States, with Samuel, from the Bahamas, approximately eleven years ago. She stated that Samuel was a child from a sexual assault and she had him due to her religious beliefs. Mr. Jacques had promised to accept him as his own. His parents separated when he was 15 years old and have been legally divorced for one year. He currently resides with his mother who maintained a relation with a man that died a year ago. The client indicated that he recognizes this person as his stepfather and he was sad to know about his death. He did not reported whether his father has re-married or not. Mr. Karson informed that he has an older sister who is a social worker and lives independently. He also reported a twin brother that resides with his father. When a case study is conducted, the researcher conducts an in-depth observation on a particular individual for an extended period of time. While observing the individual, the researcher records their observations which are then translated into case materials that are used to demonstrate a possible problem (American Psychological Association, 2009). Also, as mentioned before, case studies are solely focused on observations of a particular individual. However, even though the word individual is usually used to refer to a person, in this case, it can also be used to refer to a business, school, or neighborhood (Cozby & Bates, 2012).

Mark has been married for more than five years and has a son age 5, he is of ethnic origin. And his wife of Sottish origin. Mark has had several disagreements with his wife Lisa over his drinking and layback behaviors. Whenever, Mark’s wife Lisa confronted him, he denied that he has an alcoholic problem, Mark drinks heavily and often stayed in bed until late afternoon. Because of drinking behavior, he was arrested for DUI and had lost his job and his driver license. His probation officer recommended that he should attend a AA meeting that the court will be empathic toward him. The person I interviewed is a thirty eight year old mother of two young children. As I previously stated in unit 2 discussion 2, this family is originally from the Caribbean. Mom reported that she was separated from her young children for 10 years; a 13 year old male and 11 year old female. Mom lived in Coney Island, New York in a two bedrooms apartment in one of the projects and dangerous neighborhood for couple years, but recently moved to a better neighborhood in Pennsylvania hoping to give her children a fresh start. Both children have severe behavior issues and are in need of a lot of support, which includes mental health services, but the father wants to be kept out of the children’s care as he fears people will stigmatize his children
