Rod Stewart had arguably one of the best rock albums of the seventies with ‘Every Picture Tells a Story’. Mandolin Wind, Reason to Believe, and of course, Maggie Mae. Now Rod Stewart puts out albums filled with American Standards and wears a tuxedo. I get it, people changes over the years, they evolve, and they slow down. Not that I was ever a rock star, but I have grown to value the safety that comes with routine. My friend Phil (Blind Dog) challenged that routine the other day when he called and asked me what I was doing that night (Thursday). The usual, I thought: dinner, exercise, T.V., scotch. “I have an extra ticket for Springsteen tonight” he said. My first response was ‘No thanks’. Why? Because that is always my first response. …show more content…
I haven’t been to a big concert since I saw Springsteen in 1999, but this last show put even that one to shame. Springsteen will be sixty-seven years old this year and he bounced around the stage like a kitten on crack. I’m fifty-seven and was winded climbing the stadium steps to get to my seat. The show ended with Jersey Girl (written by Tom Waits) during which he called a young couple up on stage when he noticed the man had proposed to his girlfriend. Also fireworks, can’t forget the fireworks. My only real concern that night was about where I left my car. The New Jersey rest stop where I left my car had a two-hour tow away parking limit of which I was heading into my ninth hour. “The car will be there,” Phil said as we neared the rest stop. “You worry too much.” Which of course only made me worry that Phil really doesn’t know me at all. But the perfect game continued; my car was right where I left it. The next day I told my friend Boots what a great night I had. “Did you meet a girl?” she asked. I had attended a record-breaking Springsteen concert, hung out with my good friend, and my car had not been towed where by all accounts it should have been. If I had met a woman on top of all that, it would have thrown the universe completely out of balance. Who knew what horrible fate would have awaited me to get it balanced

Stevie Wonder is one of the country’s most influential and celebrated pop/R&B artists of the past half-century. He has produced a cumulative 28 albums that span from his earliest years at Motown records to present day. While his desire and ability to produce music has been somewhat of a constant for the better part of five decades, Wonder’s content and sound has been anything but. Wonder overcame a transition in the latter part of the 1960’s that changed the outlook and scope of his career. As Little Stevie Wonder dropped the “Little” in his name, he gained a sense of social awareness that allowed him to experiment with both his sound and lyrical content. Ultimately, Stevie Wonder’s change in musical sound from the late 1960’s to 1970’s can
Elvis Aaron Presley, “the King of Rock and Roll”, passed away suddenly at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. The famed singer and actor, who graced the world with his melodious voice by singing his well-known hits such as “Hound Dog”, “Jailhouse Rock”, and “Burning Love”, was age 42.

Louis Armstrong was born August 4th, 1901 in New Orleans. He was born into a poor family and was the grandson of slaves. His father abandoned the family when Louis was an infant. His mother later left Louis and his younger sister and left them with Louis’ grandmother. At age 5, he moved back in with his mother, her relatives and a parade of “stepfathers”. He went to school at Fisk School for Boys. At this school is where he most likely had exposure to music. He sold many items for money but the money he got wasn’t enough to keep his mother away from prostitution. He was usually in the dance halls near home, where he learned everything from licentious dancing to the quadrille. He hauled coal to Storyville for extra money. He would listen to the bands playing in the brothels and dance halls.

Rock and roll’s sheer existence has seemly coexisted with multitudes of generations’ hormone infested teenagers for decades. Since its appearance and establishment within the mid 1950’s, rock and roll has undoubtedly managed to capture the hearts of millions and presently still continues to. Ideally, when addressing the genre of rock and roll, artists such as Chuck Berry and Little Richard may occasionally come to mind. However, it seems so that it’s impossible to envision rock and roll without its king, Elvis Presley. Many individuals may be familiar with Elvis Presley as one of America’s most musically influential figures of all times. Infamously recognized as the “King of Rock n’ Roll”, Elvis Presley has forever been engraved within the
Google defines superstar as one who has or had a successful career, either has a performer or an athlete (Google, 2016). When narrowed down to the category of a performer, there is only one musician who should be recognized more than any other artists. His hard work and impact on society led others to portraying him as, “The King of Rock and Roll” (Geller, 2007). This performer is none other than Elvis Aaron Presley, who meets high expectations and standards of becoming a Superstar. Elvis Presley, who deserves the title as a Superstar because he left his mark on the world not only as a spectacular singer, but as an extremely successful performer who dedicated his life to Rock N’ Roll, created a fashion trend, and

There have been many great musicians and many wanted to be called the king of rock , but only one can truly be called the king of rock and that person is elvis presley. Elvis presley is the king of rock because there was no one like him the way he danced and the crowds went crazy over his crazy moves he made, or how him and his guitar were a major component of the iconic rock and roll and last but not least how many singles and albums he sold made him the king of rock and roll he made it popular.
When it came to the chorus, Dave stopped singing and everyone in the room, sung the chorus back. I felt the unity with everyone in that room, although I hardly knew any of them. The song ended with a sigh. The night is over. Dave thanked us and smiled.
There is an event that I just can describe as one of the most unique and memorable in my life: attending my first concert. After years of listening to Ron Pope’s music, watching his YouTube channel, and following all of his social media accounts, the satisfaction of seeing someone whose music has been the soundtrack to my life for so long was unreal. There were moments that I had to internally remind myself that this is, in fact, happening in real life. Being a dedicated (some may say eccentrically so) fan is tough work – and I was rewarded with two hours of pure magic for one night. Attending my first concert was a unique event that I will always remember fondly because of the atmosphere, the amazing performance and the sense of connection
