Leadership is the social influence to motivate and encourage others towards a positive change. A leader must have a clear goal in mind to create a set purpose and must be committed in order to accomplish the groups goal. The leaders must focus on five key components; inclusive, purpose, ethical, empowering and process. Relational leadership focuses on taking this approach of leadership as purposeful and helps build commitment to the group, and empower those involved. Those involved in the leadership process need know who they are as a person in order to help create a change in the group, they have to be knowledgeable, aware of not just themselves but others, and take proper action. The Red Cross Club is one of the many community groups on campus set out to help the Oswego County community during hard times by providing services to help others in need , I’d like to be part of the club in order to play a major role in changing the lives of others who may not have many opportunities, and see how helping others brings the best out of people. Setting an example for everyone is highly important, showing others you have high standards, for example, I wouldn't make someone do something that I wouldn't be willing to do. Showing you’d do something in order explain puts trust which can be valued all throughout if the ‘followers’ don’t trust and feel confident in what I’m doing there’s gonna be a lack of inspiration and motivation, I’d have to convince them that I know what I’m doing, putting benefits first before self-gain is a critical key in showing trust since I’d be helping other people rather than myself. The reason why the members and I would’ve joined the club would be to help others
