I am applying to the University of Ottawa for admission to the Ph.D. program in Management. I am interested in entrepreneurship management, crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, reinforcement learning particularly in enabling the technology entrepreneurship process thrive. Additionally, the problems in the technology entrepreneurship field have a concrete basis, originating from practical problems in management justified of an inter-disciplinary solution approach. In the last five years, I have been conducting research on business process transformation, crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, machine learning and reinforcement learning. The first trait that displays a great connection to my strengths is enthusiasm. I believe that the trait of enthusiasm is when a person displays excitement and positivity toward their task. Scott Lilienfeld mentions that the most well-known public and political leaders have an enthusiasm trait. He also mentions that successful political leaders show this trait because they are the face of politics and without their positive and excitement towards their task, they wouldn’t not become great leaders that thousands of people follow (Lilienfeld, 2012). I believe this relates well to my strengths such as being futuristic and focusing because political leaders don’t only focus on the present, they focus on the future. My favorite quote from the book to describe woo is, “… Once that connection has been made, you are quite happy to move on.” That one statement has accurately described my professional life thus far; I love meeting new people and easily bore when bound to a routine. It is difficult to perform to my best ability when I am bored, I have found that the best way for me to combat boredom is by keeping a flexible schedule and focusing on short-term projects. According to the study of this course, I have learned many useful management skills and I feel like these skills will be applied to my future career development.
