Transformational leaders can get these kind results by inspiring them with charisma, meeting emotional needs of each employee, or intellectually stimulating them. Transformational leadership seems to stand in opposition to transactional leadership. Transactional leadership is a reciprocal relationship based on punishment and reward, but the transformational leader provides a vision sensing mission and instills pride gives followers intrinsic motivation to perform.
Personal reflection
From this article, I learned the transformational leadership is a more effective method of leadership than the conventional transactional form of leadership that is still prevalent today. Transformational leadership sees followers as ends in themselves and not as a means to some other end that does not have their mutual interests in mind. It becomes my job as a leader to promote the vision and perform with the commitment of all the members of the group.
