The sport I have chosen to design a unilateral below the knee prosthetic device is none other than ice hockey. I choose this sport in particular, because I have not seen it explored much in regard to amputees playing it. My design will incorporate many of the more well known tendencies of great hockey players, explore ways in which amputees can emulate this, and lastly how my design can give an upper hand to those using it. Important to note is, my idea for a prosthetic device does not aim to replace a legs normal function, but is specially designed for playing hockey. My device, while admittedly not too concerned with the aesthetics and more with the use, attempts to hit all of the marks the organization claims to be crucial in creation of a well functioning prosthetic device. Its aim is to help those who lost the use of their leg below the knee enjoy recreational or profession hockey with as little hindrance as possible. At the moment there are companies that sell products like this, however their availability is scarce as there is a relatively small population that would use this and could afford it. It, in my opinion does not provide an unfair advantage to a team playing with the device, however I cannot say that someone with a normal prosthetic leg would perform as well as a person with the hockey inspired prosthetic device. It would be an advantage, but I would not call it unfair. Its design, from the point of attachment, its curve, and straight edge are all meant to get those without their leg (BK), the ability to more proficiently play
