1 Understanding the chemical and biological impact pharmaceutical drugs have on our body has
2 always captivated me to pursue a career in Pharmacy.
3 Studying Pharmacy will further enable me to be at the forefront of the healthcare system
4 providing me with the opportunity to get involved in positively affecting the health of
5 individuals in our society.
6 I'm committed to work in a healthcare profession that involves the science and advancement of
7 medication such as how it interacts with the body and affects the individual. Skills that a
8 pharmacist has which I gained at the placement are excellent communication skills. I was able

14 In physiology, I have explored the main body systems in detail. It's essential for me to know
15 how drugs interact with the body, to be able to administer the right dosage as prescribed and
16 also the side effects.I gained a better understanding of medication and the procedures and the
17 daily routines established by pharmacies. Throughout my placement in a pharmacy, I have
18 observed many essential aspects to a career in pharmacy. This includes the processing of
19 prescriptions and the importance of communication when discussing administration of the drug
20 to the patient. I carried out numerous tasks but was supervised by a pharmacist including:
21 shelving new orders of drugs in correct place in alphabetical order, I was given the
22 responsibility of finding medicines on the prescriptions, which was then checked by the
23 pharmacist. Also I learnt how to dispose expired, or unwanted drugs from the patients. This
24 placement has made me committed to study pharmacy, as I felt it was the right career for me
