Effective communication skill is vital for health careers success. For Pharmacy Technician, Communication skill is perform to communicate undoubtedly and adequately with patients, their family members, physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals. 1) Active listening: it is one of important skill for establish relationship with patients or other pharmacy staff. This skill involves serve full concentration to the client. It also remembers that you should not be disturbed while listening. This skill help find out patient point of view. There are three tool of active listening.1) Rephrasing 2) Reflective 3) clarifying
2) Empathy: it can be tough, but developed by practice. Empathy builds trust with client, so that client can express themselves freely. Empathy shown by both way verbally and nonverbally. It is primary response of communication.
3) Adequate use of questioning: Opening of communication, ask general and open ended questions. It should begin with how, why, when, where and helps the customers to disclose information. Example, what did the physician inform about taking this medications? Close ended question may be applicable to acquire more specific information. Example, did you take your doses accurately?
Pharmacist and Pharmacy technician should modify their counselling questions according to the feedback given by the customer. They should avoid medical terms and use easy language.
