Good morning. Okay, I know all of you are so busy in these few weeks because of those presentation, essay and group project, right? One of my friends told me that she had not slept for two days, it’s horrible. Well, so do you think you got enough sleep last night? If yes, please put your hands up. Who feels that you're getting enough sleep here? Oh, thanks for your attention(laugh). Sleep. It's something we spend about one third of our lives doing, but most of us, we throw it away. We don’t take it seriously. Today, I’d like to persuade you to get a good night’s sleep in my speech. A night of sleep can enhance our ability to establish novel solutions and complicated problems. Russell Grant Foster, a neuroscientist who studied at the University of Bristol with a PhD in Neuroscience stated “In fact, a good night’s sleep could give us a threefold advantage in creativity.” Whenever I have problems that cannot figure out, for example, doing artworks, after a night sleep, there are always unexpected new ideas exist in my mind. On the other hand, I found that some people sleep-deprived in order to study for the next day test, as a result, the ability to do that task is enormously smashed and those students actually didn’t get higher marks than others. Finally, I would talk about sleep-deprived causes weight gain. A sleep report done by Dr. Namni Goel and her team of University of Pennsylvania on Huffington Post, in 2015 showed people who only spent four hours to sleep for five successive nights gained almost two pounds more than those who slept for about 10 hours, during a week. Since sleep loss will cause the hunger hormone, ghrelin release more, and when it gets to brain, then The brain will say, "I need carbohydrates," and when it starts to find carbohydrates, especially sugar, then you will get fat. Especially for girl, even though you don’t eat, loss of sleep may make you get fat, it’s shocking, right? Before I end, let me say again, have a good sleep. In conclusion, in my sharing, I persuaded you to get good sleep in order to have a better life. We need to sleep well and there are three reasons have mentioned in my speech. First, sleep can help brain clear out waste from its cells. Second, sleep help you to be more productive. Third, loss of sleep may cause a problem, weight gain. Sleep is really important to all of you because it helps to have a better life. Jim Butcher, the fantasy writer, said, "Sleep is God. Go worship."
