Recommended: The effects of smoking on a person’s health

Every cigarette you smoke reduces your expected life span by 11 minutes. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined. The smoke-free college campuses is a step towards decreasing the use of these dangerous, habit forming products. Smoking causes harm to not just for smoker itself but it exposes other student to second hand smoke related health issues. Smoking ban helps to create a healthy learning environment to students, staffs and visitors.
The George mason university bans smoking inside the campus building and it allows smoking outside the building in campus ground if it is 25 feet from the building but the university is not doing anything to enforce the …show more content…

When people hear about tobacco free campus it attracts more students and it shows that the collage is working for environment benefit and for parents of the student is show that the university is a safe place for their daughters/sons to be in and visitors will be able to have a good impression about the collage. That will attract more students and professors .The tobacco free campus can be created with small amount of staff times and resource. The first step for implement the ban is by creating a policy that prohibits using tobacco products in school ground and if anyone who breaks the law will be punished. Prohibited selling, advertising, sponsorship on campus and then Post tobacco free signs across the campus to remind student and visitors that using any tobacco product is prohibited in campus. Remove smoking areas from campus. Clean the cigarettes butts and maintain a beautiful environment.
