Everyone has to take English 9 whether they choose Honors English 9 or regular English 9. Everyone know the easier route is English 9. If you pay attention in class, you will learn lots of great stuff in either class. However, in Honors English 9, you will learn many more great things on top of what you will learn in English 9. Who doesn’t want more? Everyone wants to learn more right? Three main things that I hope to obtain in Honors English 9 are a greater vocabulary, a more in depth knowledge of types of writing, and my main hope is that Honors English 9 will help learn what to do in AP classes.
Education is a huge topic of controversy, society is always trying to reform what we know as education today. Right now, the first 12 years of education are entirely free for students directly, but in the end are paid for by the taxpayers of the town. The question is, why should only grades k-12 be free why not a college education too? On the other hand, there are some exceptions to free schooling at the k-12 levels. The most prominent being, Private schooling, most towns in the United States have at least one if not many private schools. They require a certain amount in tuition for each of its students every year. An example of this, in my town Salem, NH one of the most known private catholic schools is St. Joseph 's. Happy New Year and the second semester of the school year. The first semester was a test on how students would blend into the new academics. Honors English was a great choice I made in middle school and I would recommend it to any incoming freshman. I have learned new ways to create claims and the proper way to set up paragraphs. Learning the way to set up paragraphs has improved my writing skills, even out of the english classroom. I feel as though this class has helped me become a more polished and professional writer. When I first entered English 110, I was extremely unsure and lacked confidence in my writing. I believe that this point can be partly attributed to the fact that I had always had my instructors holding my hand and helping me through the writing process in high school. Changing the qualification to take AP English Language and Composition from a grade level requirement to requirements based on ability would have many benefits. It would allow all qualified students to challenge themselves academically instead of hindering some students with an unnecessary intermediate course. Students would be able to follow their already made four year plans. Furthermore, making some sophomores take an extra course could reduce the amount students are challenged and could damage their motivation to take English classes earlier. Therefore, qualified incoming sophomores should be allowed to take AP English Language and Composition as their English class, as they are currently competent and mature enough to take the course.
