Technology today comes at a price. Schools are spending a large amount of money on technological upgrades, some of these, not helpful. If schools are going to spend thousands of dollars on computers for the students they should buy computers that can fit the needs of the students properly. Today’s Chromebooks are an example of this because they are slow and overpriced. The computers should have more money invested into them if schools want to make it a full-time thing. And not only are the computers slow, another thing is internet …show more content…
Also, there are students that have a harder time learning when there is technology involved. Jason Saltmarsh explains “The use of technology hasn’t really produced any significant results in the past 20 years, and, even more troubling, studies show that increased screen time is harmful to children’s social and physical development.” Now just because there were no significant results doesn’t mean it isn’t helping, it’s just that schools shouldn’t just jump to conclusions and push technology towards every student’s way.
Benefits of Technology
Technologies main goals, according to The U.S. Department of Education states that technology “expands course offerings, experiences, and learning materials; supports learning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; builds 21st-century skills; increases student engagement and motivation; and accelerates learning.” Technology does these things if it is used properly. It needs to be executed by not only the school but also the students as well.

One second my best friend just texted me… Ok what was I saying?.. Oh right; It has distracted us from our studies, our loved ones, and even our driving. Technology is making us less intelligent, oblivious to our surroundings, and antisocial.

Technology has improved over the past many years, and it is beginning to change the ways classes are structured. Schools have begun replacing their old tech, chalkboards and textbooks , with newer models, smart boards and ebooks. While this progress should continue, it should do so in moderation. The most important factors a school should consider before using a certain technology are the benefits in time efficiency, the amount of helpful resources available with the tech, and the overall well-being of students. Students, and children in general, are not the best at time management.

Technology while it may be beneficial overall, can be to blame for issues with student's school work. First, studies have found that families with lower incomes, and less access to technology, statistically have higher grades and test scores. People believe that this is because children are spending more time on devices than they are on doing their work. This may be true, but the students can find other distractions besides just electronic; friends, family, and things happening outdoors. Next, some adults feel as though if technology is used within schools it will become a distraction to the

In today's society, modern day technologies continue to rapidly evolve and continuously change the ability to learn and communicate. Further development of technology has created new forms of interaction and ways to do things, which were not possible twenty years ago. The dominant types of technology available today did not all, succeed when they were first brought forth. While each technology needed to make small tweaks and changes for it to work more efficiently and continue to advance, there are some instances where this does not always, help. Throughout our lifetimes there are many instances where things do not work the way it is supposed to, and technology is no different.
...ass. School administrators should remember not to force technology into their curriculum unless they are confident in the student 's ability to learn and correctly recall information presented. When students have no desire to learn and are given tools to distract themselves technology hurts them, or rather their test scores, more than students who learn with book or oral based teaching because the absence of distraction. Computers and iPads are very difficult to repair or replace compared to books, and because most people are not yet “technologically literate” enough to perform basic tasks for the maintenance of their computer, then it would just be easier to use books. These issues create question as to if students are ready for classes to require computer knowledge when some have difficulty learning the material as it has always been learned for thousands of years.
Education is meant to be the key to a successful life. It is supposed to inspire great ideas, and prepare each and every generation for their future. However, school for today 's generation fails to meet those requirements. Every student knows education is important, but when school is not engaging or in some cases, even relevant, it makes learning difficult. Improving the school system is something educators attempt to accomplish every year. Despite their best efforts, there are numerous flaws students see, but adults overlook. There is a lack of diversity for students to learn, an overabundance of testing, and students’ voices are being ignored on how to create a more productive learning experience.
Furthermore, the learning process is easily enhanced when technology is used. First, with Internet access in each classroom, it allows the teacher to access massive amounts of information in just a few seconds. This information can be given to the students in a clear, easy to read format as it is projected onto the screen. With such easy access to information, students are able to learn more in a smaller time span, while teachers are able to be more efficient in how they teach. This makes the education a person gets from their school more valuable for their money; and money is important as college costs continue to rise.
In conclusion, technology has changed education for the better allowing access to unlimited resources, distance learning and broadening the means of communication. Technology creates a more encouraging environment and stimulates students to engage in something they may be familiar with. Technology has allowed people to know more and to collaborate with each other. Students have a great range of technologies which strengthens the relationship between knowledge and students. The technology used today throughout the world will only strengthen and advance the 21st century education system. With unlimited resources, students can take advantage of their learning and gain the most from it. Integrating technology into education promotes a better learning community.
Whether some people believe it or not, technology is just as important as reading, math and writing for students. It may take some time for those individuals to understand the importance of technology. The more technology that develops over the years and decades, the more benefits it can attribute to a student’s live. Without technology, a student’s life can have some challenges as they grow up. The introduction of technology into the learning environment has allowed the learning to be more student-centered, to encourage group learning, and helps to stimulate an increase in the student-teacher interaction. Technology has shown a shift from a focus on a student’s memorization to their problem solving. Through technology’s use, learning opportunities have become unrestricted by time or place, allowing lifelong learning. Student use of technology through communications can also help to enhance access to a career and continued education. Students are more likely to use a computer to get help because they can to it themselves. Technology is helping students to become independent.
