The Infected
The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane. I hid behind the corner of the street as the men came closer to me. Both men jogged in perfect harmony as if they were clones of each other. They had focused faces which made them look like they were on a mission to do something.
“Hello? I need help,” I shout to the men. The men turned and looked me straight in the eyes. They were wearing all black uniforms which made them look intimidating. The men were fully equipped with guns, armor and ammo.
“Don’t move! We don’t know if you’re infected,” one of the men shouts with his gun drawn on me.
“I’m not infected,” I declare. “I just need some help finding my father. We got separated while we were

I don’t think I really even know how people started to become infected. I had asked my father before we had been separated, but he would just tell me everything would be okay and to not worry. Earlier in the week I had heard on the news that this year's flu shot vaccine had caused people to go mad, but nobody knew what to or not to believe. It seemed that the infected were spreading the sickness from person to person by attacking perfectly healthy people. Nobody knew how to stop the disease from spreading. And it was spreading fast. Fast enough to the point where all emergency services were unavailable and the city seemed like a ghost town. Everyone seemed to have left the city earlier or they were in hiding. All the lights in the city were off and the only source of light we had was the moon.
Daylight began to shine, we searched the shoreline for the boat that would be our way out of the city.
“ Hold up guys, I think we might have some infected behind us,” Alton whispered.
We all stopped and looked, there were three people slowly walking toward us, in raggedy clothes, they seemed to be infected. We needed to get to the boat which was about 300 yards ahead. Suddenly all three figures started sprinting straight at

We ran for about 200 yards and I could make out the correct boat flags. It had an American flag and a New York flag with a bright red paint job.
“ There it is! We can run inside and lock the door,” I announced as we sprinted for our lives.
We raced to the boat like deer running from a cheetah. We got closer and closer until the moment came when we would have to jump off of the dock and into the boat. I was very scared, but I knew this was the only way to get away from the infected and escape the city.
“ Everybody jump inside the boat and climb inside the cabin,” I try to communicate to Alton and Emmett. “We will have to make it inside quick or the infected will eventually make their way inside.” We jumped from the dock into the boat and climbed into the boat cabin with ease. It seemed as if our plan was going perfectly. Alton locked the door to get in the boat and we searched for the keys. The infected jumped on the outside deck of the boat and started beating on the outside windows. Out of nowhere we hear a voice on the boat.
“Freeze,” the mysterious voice said.
A man walked out of the corner of the boat holding a wooden baseball bat with the hood of his jacket up.
“ Dad, is that you?” I asked in a wondering
They then got in the boat and Edwin started it up and backed up from the bay.
" I wish I could have helped more but hey did you hear about Lord Williamson " she says in a hushed tone. I stop and I turn around quickly.
“They set a bomb off in the base,” she explained looking terrified. “Then they raided it and made sure that not a single one of us had escaped. I was lucky not to be there when it happened. I am even more lucky that they didn’t hunt me down.” She tipped the motorcycle over and hid it with some brush. “Follow me,” she demanded.

Billy Thompson and Sam Westfield were similar in many ways. Since a young age they both has excelled at sports and both loved more then anything, the sport of football. While growing up, the boys did not know each other and probably thought they would never have too. But all of that changed with the diagnosis.
“ Well, it is because we are immune to it haven’t you figured it out yet?”
Rob and Mary spent a few moments gathering their belongings before they were ready to leave. As Rob and Mary were exiting their house, they saw a carriage that seemed to be coming their way. When the carriage finally came into view, Rob realized it was filled with dead people that had died of the plague.
IT's hard to be a peasant during this Plague! Everybody is dying off, my friends and the older people, even innocent infants. It stinks of death everywhere I go, and we can leave or our lord will kill us. My mom is sick and no one likes her because they think she has he Plague It could be me next, who knows.
Finally, the boat slid slowly to the water’s surface and my terrified family all raced to the side to get out as soon as possible. (I was the last one out due to the fact that my engine had died). The employees were left speechless. The one employee was so awed by the previous chaos, he almost forgot to open the gate and allow us to escape the horror of the bumper boats.
As you wait for the boat to come pick you up, make sure to unfasten your boots. Hold the board out of the water in order to allow other boats to see you clearly.
When he didn’t stop, I yelled out louder and tried to knock on the roof. I looked over at Mattie and saw that her fingers were discolored and she was starting to get bumps on her like the driver had. I knew what it was, it was the plague. I felt myself getting weary and I soon lost consciousness. When I woke, I found Mattie dead with signs of the plague everywhere on her and that the carriage had been stopped.
The sweat began to pour from my body, while my heart raced to pump blood at an accelerated rate. The chase was on. Pedaling my bike, I swerved left and right, dodging all sorts of trash that littered the desolate ground beneath my feet. The car was gaining ground fast, its ebony silhouette glaring at me like some hell-spawned demon. A cold, clammy hand seemed to envelope my body.
Just after this quick bend, the crew became visible helping people on. Just before I entered the transportation unit, I looked down at the gap left between the door and I. The metal around the entry door was rusted and worn, which gave me an eerie feeling. Reluctantly, I stepped aboard and felt uneasy as I saw those responsible for taking us to our destination. I would soon know for sure, how I felt about my now plausible career.
The chopper followed the octopus wearing my boots and landed on the deck I had left four days earlier. I felt the stretcher being offloaded, bouncing me toward sickbay. I looked at the sea one last time with burnt red eyes before they brought me into the interior of the ship and I said to it, "I beat you!"
...mazingly) and we watched the engines start up, with water whirling everywhere below the surface. I ran to the front of the boat to look down into the water and I kept noticing all these little white puffs everywhere. From where I was, they kind of looked like plastic bags floating through the water. I called Kristi and my dad over to see them. As we were watching, these poofy little balls kept appearing out of nowhere, there must have been hundreds. Finally, a really big one floated its way into our line of vision and from the eighth deck we were able to see what they were. Jellyfish! Cute little iridescent balls of cotton.
