The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. When I first went into high school, I had no interest in going to college, and since I wasn't going to college, I didn't feel the need to do any of my work - or study for my tests. I did this the whole year, and the year after that. At the end of the second year of high school I found out that I was going to fail the second quarter of Algebra 2. I had to spend my own $200 on one summer school class for three weeks because I didn't care enough to care about my grades. It wasn't until I hit Junior year, that I found something to be passionate about and something that I would like to study in college, it also might have had something to do with my mother making
Summer vacation, and school ends for about three months, and then you have as much fun as you can, then back to school… right? Well I had to go to summer school, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Everything was going fine, I had a job after summer school, and that was going fine as well. They say that summer is supposed to be fun and exciting, and it usually is for me and my family. However in July my father started coughing up blood. My father usually doesn’t make it his top priority to go to the doctors, so he waited about four weeks until he really didn’t feel good.
At that time college wasn’t something that looked plausible for me anytime in the near future. That was until it was time to graduate and I received a lot of inspiration from teachers that I had grown really close to.
Having been through schooling, teachers know that some material they teach is difficult. This will encourage them to help students get through the material by giving life lessons. By teaching students not to give up after they come to an obstacle or challenge early

Overcoming obstacles in life makes you feel more confident, obstacles in life builds character and they will make us work harder which leads to success. To begin with, you need confidence in life. Confidence will help you get through a lot of things. Obstacles, being one them, are in need of a lot of confidence. You need to beleive in yourself to get through obstacles, you can’t give up or get down on yourself.
As I started my senior year, all I could think of was my graduation looming over me. The thought of having to choose a major and possibly make the decision that would change my life was extremely daunting. It's a struggle many teens are required to face, that jump from being unable to make decisions without a parent, to being told "listen, you're an adult, make your own choices". In a lot of these situations, a teen can have a hard time finding interests they wish to pursue, and will often go with a parent's suggestion, which was also the case with me. In the end though, I was able to narrow down choices using different methods of reasoning, and found the strengths that I didn't realize I had.
Facing obstacles and struggles is inevitable. Regardless of what they may be, we all have the choice to learn and grow, or back down and fail. I am bound to face many experiences in life that may leave me feeling defeated and discouraged. Reflecting on the endeavors I have successfully executed; it is important to consider the endeavors I grappled with.
My biggest obstacle in life, Learning how to breathe. Now before your mind gets cluttered with assumptions on how ironic that statement might sound I have to take you back. At a young age I wanted to believe I was living a fairy tale, that I was the superhero and no matter what I would always come out on top. I didn't know what it felt like to be beaten or bruised, I didn't know how to cope with all these thoughts running rampant races around my mind. I didn't know because I didn't want to know. Facing the hardships of reality was never my thing, Some might say I had a "glorified" vision of the world. Life will throw even the most successful people challenges that they cannot avoid but the outcome of those situations always lies firmly in the hands of the people involved. Figures from the past have shown this to be true. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Gandhi, etc. are inspirational people who have taken unfortunate circumstances and have changed them into opportunities--into unarticulated examples of accomplishments that have changed the society’s views on the benefits of always striving for something better. Robert Frost was one of those people; he was able to optimize the most out of terrible situations, and was able to explain the lessons he learned through poetry, expressing how life is a never-ending learning process. We all go through many obstacles in our life, and most of the time, we don't know what to do about it. I have an obstacle that I am currently going through. I am a very bad procrastinator, and for the past week, I have been struggling with beginning this essay. Everyone goes through hardships in their life. It's a completely normal thing. We need to learn however, what to do in these situations. We might feel like we want to give up right away, this is because we may think that it's too much to handle, or there's nothing we can do about it. Thankfully, I have finally learned how to deal with my procrastination and start on my essay, as you can clearly see. We all go through bumps on the road, we just have to break down the situation, stand strong, and work through them.
I had a relationship with a very important person, our relationship isn’t what people think. He was Bill Goff, but to me he was “Papa”. My Papa was the most kind and gentle person I have met in my lifetime, he was full of wisdom. I was about six or seven when he passed away, he had lung cancer but the chemotherapy did more harm then it did healing. He used to make some of the best Kool-Aid and lemonade I have ever tasted. One time we had went to fish and my Papa, had brought my cousins this time. He had found this tree and told us to climb it, so we climbed in it and he took our pictures and we still have those pictures. We used to watch Tom and Jerry on the television, daily. We would always go fishing at Dead Indian Lake near Cheyenne, OK. This one time we went fishing and I had caught a fishing trying to get its last meal. It was getting eaten by a different fish. One other time when we went fishing I had caught the biggest bass of my life, or at last it felt like it when I was five years old. My papa and I had a bond that could not brake and not one time did he doubt anything that I had said.
I am by myself wearing my blue jeans and an old flannel shirt. It is cool outside but I decided to leave my gloves at home, feeling comfortable with my warm shirt and my sturdy boots.
There have been tons of things that I have learned and been taught in my life, by a number of people such as family, teachers, or even friends on occasion. The things they taught me vary from math and other related subjects to just some truly simple yet meaningful life lessons. However, there is nothing quite as unique, quite as special as a person teaching themselves a life lesson. It really is an amazing accomplishment for a person to teach themselves something. It is not quite as simple as another person teaching them something because it is not just the transferring of information from one person to another. The person instead has to start from scratch and process the information they have in their mind in order to come up with a new thought
It was dark that night, I was nervous that this dreadful day was going to get worse. Sunday, October 23, 1998 I wanted to start writing this to tell about the weird things i’m starting to see in this new neighborhood. Gradually I keep seeing pots and pans on the sink suddenly move to the floor. I would ask my sister but she is out with my mom and dad getting the Halloween costumes. A recent failure that has changed how I go about my daily life is one that many college freshman experience in their first year. In high school I was a very good student, but I did not have to put in a lot of effort to get the grades that I wanted. I would joke with my friends and say that high school taught me how to put in the least amount of effort, and still get the maximum result. All of my teachers told me, as they did every student, that college was going to be different and if you do not put in more effort it would be very difficult. I knew this coming into school, but I am not sure if part of me wanted to prove people wrong, or if I actually was just adjusting to college life. I did not study as much as I should of, and as a result my grades suffered. Luckily I did not completely ruin my grade point average, but since first semester I have completely changed my study habits. This has taught a much needed lesson about hard work, and I am determined to never again fail at my studies. I am the kind of person that learns a lot from failures. My dad has always told me it is ok to make a mistake, but never make the same mistake twice. This I a motto that I live by.
