I believe everyone should have a choice in the world. You shouldn’t be forced to contribute to service. If Americans were forced to serve others, the love would fade. There are more bads then good in this situation. If you had to contribute to the service, the joy that volunteers feel would be weakened. You shouldn’t do something just because you have to, you have to love what you’re doing. You wouldnt get the best of effort out of everyone if they had to do it. The quality of the work wouldnt be what the government hoped for. The Government would have to join in on the pay if everyone was required. Most people are willing to die for the ones they love. People often will die for their loved ones because they would rather have themselves die than the other person. I would die for my country if I had too. I probably wouldn’t go fight for my country unless they needed me because it’s not what I want to do in life. I think it would only be an illogical idea to serve your country if you knew that it was basically just suicide mission. It would also be illogical if you didn’t want to do it and they didn’t need you
Military service should be voluntary because of the choices and sacrifices the military forces make. As a military child, I understand what the military service can do to lifestyles, relationships and individuals. The time spent serving in the military can uproot or separate families, friends and destroy those relationships. The places you live and how you live will change. The training, expectations and things the military forces you to do will change people and not always for the best.
Military service in the United States should be compulsory (required) because it will provide economic and social benefits to those people who are serving as well as create a benefit for the general public as well as nation as a whole.
My beliefs are important to me. I wake up every morning with a cup of coffee in my hand and turn on the daily news. I see many problems occurring around the world, but most of us are too blind to actually do something to help. We are too blinded by our society's cultural that we can’t separate ourselves from the good and bad.
Ever since the first war involving America started, there have been countless discussions on who should fight for our country. There are talks of age, gender, and if the service should be voluntary or not. In America, serving is voluntary, although, in other countries, it is not. The service should stay voluntary in America because if not, it would go against freedom and it would be a source of newfound problems within our country. Also, if youth took off two years of their lives to serve, they would not gain experience to work in the fields that need more work force.

In the U.S. every American citizen has their own rights; whether it is freedom of religion, speech and even choice. Americans have the choice to do whatever they want, so if they do not want to participate in the military and go to war then they should not be forced to. Men and women should not be forced to do something that they are not comfortable with. Many Americans want to pursue in higher education; if they go to war they it could lack the chance of them pursuing their dream if they are busy serving the country. The United States is known as the ‘Land of the Free’ which means that Americans are free to make any decision they want. Many argue that reinstating the military draft would not help the military at all; it would just add more men and women rather than making a better army. Identity-“Ones personal qualities.”Identiy is something only he or she can fully define. My uncle says I am affectionate,cheerful, and calm. My grandmother sees me as slim, pretty and sweet. My dad described me as perky, cheerful and happy, my mom says beautiful, gentle, and self-conscious. These adjectives describe me accurately, yet they are only abstract versions of me. Adjectives cannot begin to describe me and I aknowlege these descriptions for what they are, a condensed translation from my outward self to the world. It is impossible for anyone to understand me completely because nobody has experienced the things I have. My mother has never cherished a raggedy doll named Katie and my father never spent hours upon hours making collages and scrap books for his future children. My uncle never hid in the back of a pick-up-truck and traveled four hours to New York and my grandmother has never walked hours in the rain looking for the Queen of England. My identity is something only I can define.
The reason why I think the all volunteer system say something good about our country is because of multiple reasons. One being patriotism, our own citizens did not have to go overseas to fight for our country, they decided to. But why you may ask, because like I said at the beginning they will fight and die for our freedom and opportunity to live a fulfilling lifestyle. The word “patriot” still holds up today the same way it did three hundred years ago in the American Revolution.
The military is a vary strict and demanding system, you should be forced to join because it is not meant for everyone. It takes strong people physically, and mentally some people are fit to be in the military.Another reason is medical reasons, some people may not be eligible to serve as demanded. Some people would just simply be scared fighting out on the front lines, that would cause them to flake and that could get them and their teammates killed. That is why people should not be forced to fight in the armed forces.
Thirdly, mandatory military service would promote respect for soldiers, the land, and freedom. Soldiers are trained thoroughly to respect freedom and values. With mandatory service we will be a nation that has respect for the land and most of all freedom. Soldiers will learn to respect everyone and everything.
First off I want to say that I don't agree that going into the service should be required by anyone. The reason i believe that is beacuse, like passage 2 states "Mandatory services would hurt the growing trend of volunteering in america today". Additonally, I just don't believe that anybody should be forced to go into the service if that's not what they want to do. Also, When you force people to go into the service you have to undersatnd you are ripping them away from thier families and thier loved ones witch is not right. Those are the main reasons I disagree with mandatory service.
I was never the type to enjoy volunteering. The first thing that came to mind was doing work without compensation, that was my definition of volunteering before I volunteered at Bayview. I was never interested in volunteering, not because I am selfish, but because I never realized how important it was to volunteer.
A common misconception about volunteering is that it only helps the cause. Often times that aspect is the only part that is highlighted when the topic of donating time comes up. There is a different side of volunteering though. Many volunteers donate their time to help better the community they live in and the people that live in it. When they choose to do this they not only help others but they are also helping better themselves. Volunteering benefits a person by building connections with peers, improving family life, expanding career skills, overcoming self doubt, having lasting life impressions, and creating new opportunities.
Volunteering: The great experience no one can afford to lose. Opposers say, mandatory community service can have several negative effects on students. “Community service hours are impressive additions to college applications and can provide a student with a great sense of accomplishment; however, the mandatory hours will have many negative consequences” (Cydney Hayes, 2012). Many students are barely even passing the regular school curriculum, and opposers believe that adding the additional load of mandatory service hours will discourage teens from even wanting to graduate. Also mandatory service is usually assigned by a court as punishment to delinquents. “In a small number of cases, community service is required by the court system as restitution for delinquent offenses” (Planty and Bozick, 2006).
