I have played soccer my entire life. At twelve years old, I completed a Bryst soccer camp after which I decided that I wanted to play at a higher level than house league. My goal was to make a Bryst Academy team. In grade nine and ten, I committed to playing soccer six days a week and twice on weekends to gain the skills required to play at a higher level and reach my goal. I had the opportunity to train with a boys team at an academy called RVDL. Many challenges come with training with boys as a female. It takes time to prove that you are as good as, or even better than, them. By working hard and challenging them, I gained this respect. If the United States had not won, it was predicted that not many in the suburban would not have much interest in soccer. Millions of young girls across the United States came to this event. After the World Cup it “will celebrate the explosive growth of soccer for women in the United States, where 7.5 million female players are registered, according to a recent survey by the Soccer Industry Council of America, a trade group. In suburbia, where the game flourishes, girls' soccer has become as popular as sport utility vehicles” (Longman). This World Cup team changed the perspective that soccer was only for males. “‘ We're fighting the myths and prejudices that women's soccer felt in the U.S. in the 70's,'' said Andrea Rodebaugh… 'That there are sports for boys and sports for girls and that soccer is not for girls, not feminine’” (Longman). This team changed the lives for many girls. The team gave little girls hope and faith they could make it in soccer. This team made them believe they could follow their passions.
Abstract: Youth Soccer has recently evolved into a fiercely competitive arena. More and more children are leaving recreational leagues to play in highly competitive select leagues. While select sports are a valuable resource where children can learn how to socialize and become self-motivated, children who start at young ages, ten and eleven, can suffer psychological and physical damage. A child's youth sporting experience is directly influenced by the attitudes, sportsmanship and behavior of their parents and coaches.

Before the soccer game had started both teams were preparing for a fierce battle. As I looked around, I could see the fear on my teammate faces. Some looked nervous while others were laughing and joking around. Seeing the size of the opposing team made me a little nervous too. Ever since i was a toddler, my dream has always been to be able to play soccer at the next level. Either to be given the opportunity to participate in a collegiate or a professional level team. High school has been good to me these past couple of years, followed by several surprises and accomplishments.

When I was in 9th grade i was soccer class, but in 8th i had wondered if i should even choose it. But then i realized that if i ever wanted to experience what it felt like to train like a real athlete I would regret it for the rest of my life. So i filled out all the applications and went to the doctor to get my physical and joined soccer. Although I had joined the class, it was not Season yet. so tryouts were not done yet but i was determined to win to become the best in the class.
For as long as I could remember soccer, my avocation, has been an imperative part of my life. Whether it be the endless running back and forth between practices and games or attending additional training sessions. I’ve participated in many other sports alongside soccer but soccer has always been my main focus. I started playing soccer when I was in 2nd grade with an older cousin. My cousin was the one who introduced soccer to me. I would love to go to his house because we would always play and he would teach me thing. I joined a team when I was in 3rd grade. The soccer team was from school and I would get very excited knowing I had a game against other schools. My team mates didn’t really know a lot about soccer, I felt I did because I had one year of experience. I would help them out and tried to teach my teammates what my older cousin taught me. Every practice was better because I was helping them out and making them love the sport as much as I did. I’ve been playing ever since. In my neighborhood, we had a friend who had a really big backyard with keeper goals. We would play every single day of the week. We would gather at his backyard around 5pm and stayed
I encourage you to carry your soccer career to college and even farther. Don’t forget about the burning passion that started as a little kid. You've always dreamed of being a professional soccer player or maybe even a coach. Even making the high school soccer team is a great accomplishment because you’ve had a few setbacks.
