Doctors are generally known to diagnose, treat, and advise patients with illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Ever since the young age of three, I have always wanted to be a doctor. My mom told me I walked up to people and told them to call me Doctor Miracle because I was going to have a shiny white coat and a stethoscope, and treat every sick person I saw. I enjoyed watching health related programs and would ask my parents to buy me medical-related books and toys. As I progressed in school and maturity, my love for medicine further blossomed. I would like to be a doctor and specialize in cardiac surgery in future. A cardiac surgeon is a doctor who specializes in treating illnesses, diseases and injuries related to the heart through operations (Physicians and Surgeons).

I left my home country, Nigeria at the age of fourteen to pursue a better and contemporary high school education in South Africa and later, moved to the United States of America, for my university education. I try to acclimatize myself to whatever environment I find myself and learn as much as I can from all experiences. The education required to become a medical doctor here in the United States is extensive and for me as an international student, very expensive. It is quite demanding and can be stressful. The general pathway in medicine includes completing “4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school and then, depending on individual’s specialty, 3 to 8 years in internship and residency programs” (Physicians and Surgeons). According to Physicians and Surgeons, it is important for doctors to be excellent communicators, detail oriented, be organized and have strong physical stamina. Doctors have to be compassionate and patient and must be good at working with their hands. They must also possess some leadership and problem-solving skills to be able to save a patient’s life as quickly as
Leading You to a Healthy Lifestyle: Nurse Practitioners. I have imagined myself in several different careers that have interested me as I've grown up, from styling hair to being a fashion designer, and even a professional singer. Now, even though it is crazy to believe time has flown by so fast, I am at the age where I am deciding what I want to major in. Even though all of those professions I listed above were very interesting, there was one job when I was growing up that I knew would be a stable and interesting profession: a nurse practitioner. I have always been interested in health sciences and seeing as though I was familiar with a doctor’s office/hospital setting due to being born with a birth defect, I felt that nurse practitioner was the most suitable job for me.
Once becoming a cardiologist the extended odyssey begins. In a typical day cardiologists can engage in a multitude of activities. Most cardiologists spend their typical days diagnosing patients, interacting with them and engaging in different procedures to help the heart. What they can also do is, they can review patients charts and from that they determine which steps need to be taken. For instance, cardiologists can insert pacemakers which are artificial devices that are placed near the heart inside patients for stimulating the heart muscle and regulating its contractions. In addition, cardiologists can insert stents which are tubular supports placed temporarily inside a blood vessel, canal, or duct to aid healing or relieve an obstruction. What they can also do is that they check up on the patients that need the most help and they can sometimes make CT scans or CMRI’s ( Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging). In addition, cardiologists can check on patients that have just had surgery and see how they are progressing. Along with checking on patients, when performing procedures on pa...
Many people rush through their daily life without contemplating their actions, thereby missing vast opportunities for achievement. They waste valuable time engaging in frivolous matters instead of putting their energies towards more productive and meaningful purposes. In the words of the Dalai Lama: “Life is not about acquiring money and other facilities; it is about dedicating your life to helping others as much as you can.” The immeasurable value of helping others has been engrained in me since childhood. As a result of my own difficult family circumstances, I have become more sensitive, kind and mindful towards others and their own situations. I have developed a passion for helping others, which, in combination with a proclivity towards medicine has lead to my descion to become a Physician Assistant. I want to live a life where I can provide healthcare and aid to anyone who needs.
A cardiologist functions much like a regular doctor, in the sense that they’d examine their patients and attempt to find any irregularities in the operation of the heart. A cardiologist may recommend proper treatment and preventive methods for stopping the onset of some of the more dangerous heart conditions. Additionally, a cardiologist will be the primary source of information on a patient to a surgeon, should the patient need to be operated on. (HEALTH CARE CAREERS,
Growing up in rural Texas, you have to learn to care for the things that are important to you. There really is not much to entertain yourself with so many adolescents become vulnerable to trouble. Luckily for me, I grew up with the responsibilities that came with growing up on a farm. I had things to care for on a daily basis and for the longest time, the things I cared for most were animals. I exhibited livestock in my youth and this is where I spent the majority of my time. I would come home from football or basketball practice and go straight up to the barn to tend to my animals. Along with feeding and cleaning, I would often administer vaccinations and antibiotics when needed. Because of my interest in medicine and science coupled with my love for animals some could say that I was destined to become veterinarian. The major I chose, animal science, even supported that notion. However, it was not until the summer after my freshman year of undergraduate where I realized it was human medicine that my heart was yearning for.
The life I have had so far has taught me a lot about academic and life skills; from when I was about six to the age I am now. I am always learning and happy to learn new things. I might not know what I want right now, but I do know that I want something for my life; I want to go to college, so I could make the future I see happen. As you 're reading this you 're probably asking yourself why? Why does going and graduating college mean so much to her? What makes her different from all the others? Well, to answer all those questions you would have to continue reading as I explain some of the moments in my life, in which they brought me to the conclusion that I have to go to college.
Imagine waking up everyday to meet new people, knowing the thought that you can save lives every day. An medical assistant is one who helps the physician/doctor with patients, the patients files, and many more. They take a patient's blood pressure, check on their files, and keep things organized. This career has many qualities and traits I like. Being a medical assistant pays well, they work with other people, and get to help others. I don’t have problems talking to people or listening to them, I like to help others and work in groups. By looking at the work environment, education and training, important qualities, and salary and job outlook, being a medical assistant is the best job for me.
Even before starting medical school, when people asked what I wanted to specialize in after graduating, I told them internal medicine. During medical school I really enjoyed learning about the various disease, how to treat this, how to manage that. When people asked if I would ever consider surgery, I would reply with “never” and “it’s not for me”.

Related talents to this career that I have is enjoying helping people, experiencing blood, doing regular check-ups etc. I have selected medical assisting as a career because its easy/ great training in under a year, employment growth, and flexible schedule. I believe that being a medical assisting is the best career for me.
A visit to the doctor is never an exciting moment for any child. The thought of syringes with sharp needles, the sight of blood being drawn, and unknown machines creates anxiety. As I waited to see my pediatrician all of these thoughts came to mind, terrified of what she could possibly do to me. I was next to see her, with every step my palms drenched in sweat and my heart raced faster. Expecting the worse, I wondered what she would say about the rash on my back or what she would do about it. When she took a look, she quickly made a diagnosis of pityriasis rosea. Unfamiliar with this skin disorder, I began to think the worst; maybe I caught it from someone or that, it might never go away and I worried it was contagious. My doctor assured me
An ob-gyn is what you probably refer to as just delivering babies but it’s a lot more then that. An obstetrician has to do with giving patients medicine, making sure a patient and the baby are healthy for a long nine months, being the one their for the delivery process, etc. To be an obstetrician/ gynecology, you have to go to school for quite some years but not just that also training classes. When in college learning to be an ob-gyn, you get to experience a lot of hands on things which is always fun! Last but not least before I begin to explain lots of things about an ob-gyn is that being an obstetrician takes a lot of work and effort but it entertains me more than any other career.
In the future, I wish to obtain an occupation in the medical field. I would like to start out by working for a Biology major and working in a premedical field in college where I can use my interest in medicine and my curiosity for knowledge to gain insight that would be needed to become a helpful doctor in the medical field. As I move along in my career, I would like to work my way through the pathway so that I can expand my skills in healing others, such as diagnostic abilities, effectively giving treatment and so on. I want to learn as much as possible so I can fulfill my ultimate dream of helping others that need answers to their medical problems and so that more people can live happily and healthily in the world. I hope to bring happiness to others and allowing people to live comfortably.
Pediatricians specifically strive to improve the health of babies, children, teens, and even young adults; basically anybody within the ages of 0 to 21 years old. They care for their health and are in charge of making a diagnosis; treating various things such as infections, injuries, and any other dysfunctions. Becoming a Pediatrician is worth the years of schooling and long work hours because children’s health and lives will be impacted in a positive way and also due to unique patient encounters that will resonate within you. Sometimes money and stress simply cannot replace meaningful moments such as those that can be experienced while working as a pediatrician.
Ever since I can remember, I have always dreamt of a career in medicine. I have always had a passion of saving others people's lives. Being a doctor is meant for me because I love taking the time throughout my day to make a difference in people's lives. I am willing to further my education for an extended amount of time just to fulfill my dreams of becoming a doctor. Others want to become a doctor because of money or prestige, I want to become a doctor to help the people that are ill. My grandmother, who has been suffering from Cancer for 3 years is recovering from therapy. Even though, she experiences skin problems frequently, the doctors are still doing everything in their power to help her recover. Her hair have started to grow back and she is back to her normal self. This is one of the reasons why I want to be a doctor. When one is a doctor, people look up to that individual when they are at their weakest point. When they have no one else a doctor helps maintain a sense of hope for the patient and his or her family. I will be honored to say that I will be the person people turn t...
