An medical assistant is one who helps the physician/doctor with patients, the patients files, and many more. They take a patient's blood pressure, check on their files, and keep things organized. Medical assistants complete work in places such as in offices of many different health specialists (Occupational Outlook Handbook-OOH). I think this wouldn’t bother me much because I don’t have problems with talking to other people or working with others. However, the schedule of a medical assistant could be a problem. Medical assistants work full time and some work weekends to cover any shifts that are open (Occupational Outlook Handbook-OOH). The medical assistant position will start to demand jobs just because of the “Baby-boom” generation, which means there’s going to be a lot of people wanting jobs by these times. Then, once the “Baby-Boom” generation is gone, the job outlook is going to drop. This will cause the percentage to go down because people won’t need this position anymore. Being a medical assistant is the best job for me based off of the work environment, education and training, important qualities, and salary and job outlook. I still have interest in this job because my qualities seem to be what’s needed for this job. The pay for this job is good enough to support a family. In the beginning of fall of 2016, I got a job as a medical assistant. It’s long process to get this sort of job, at least with the University of Utah so when I finally went through the orientation, lab training, computer training, and community clinics I got to work and realized there was, even more, training. Every clinic has its personal preferences and rules, so I had to start from scratch with the training I already had. As soon as I got therenoticeI was a given a quick tour of the clinic and given all the rules, passwords and regulations. It was already too much to handle, but I was memorizing as much as I could. I can’t always function under pressure, but I tried not to let my nerves get to me.

During my observership, my clinic intern mentor was Shiyama Hassan. Overall it was an enjoyable, less stressful academic experience.I got a chance to take patient histories, examination and patient’s vital sign monitoring and charting. I didn’t feel much difference in observing my mentor taking the history and when I was taking the history, it could be related to my past experience. However, every time I was curious to know what is happening with the patients and what caused him to seek naturopathic medical advice.
