Percy is one of the most important half bloods in The House of Hades. Along with Annabeth, Percy ventured through tartarus, trying to find the doors of death, and get out alive. Percy is a son of Poseidon, and has many water related powers, which include breathing underwater, controlling bodies of water, and turning himself into a water tornado. Percy is known to his friends as extremely loyal, in fact, many people throughout the book say that his loyalty to his friends is his main weaknesses. In fact, the goddess Athena tells Percy that he would “sacrifice the world” (Riordan, 298) to save someone he really cares about. If he would go to such an extent to save someone, Percy’s fatal flaw is definitely that he has too much loyalty. Percy is very important to the story. Of the crew of the Argo II, he is the one who kept everyone together. He is the ¨glue,¨ or so to speak. One moment in the story that proves this is while Percy is in tartarus, trying to find the the doors of death, the rest of the crew are still on the Agro II. Hazel notices this and comments by saying, ¨Percy had been their backbone. He given them the …show more content…
First of all, he was a great fighter, and was always useful in a battle, with his lightning powers and ability to fly. His ability to fly came useful in many situations. For example, when the bandit Sciron kicked him off a cliff, he was able to fly back up, and with a little help from Hazel, was able to defeat Sciron. He also took up the responsibility of being a leader while Annabeth was in tartarus. He himself even says that, “Jason had tried his best to act as the group's leader.” (Riordan, 58). Also, Jason had been praetor, a roman leader, before going on the quest. This makes him the most qualified of being the leader after Annabeth. Since he was the next most qualified, and had tried to be a leader in Annabeth’s absence, Jason’s role in The House of Hades was definitely as a leader and
Percy Percy provides the novel with the perfect parallel to Dunstan. He does, however, contrast in many ways to Dunstan. They are best friends, but Percy rivalry results in the formation of the main setting of the novel. Percy also feels more of an attachment to material goods than Dunstan does. He thinks only of himself and is in constant pursuit of total and utter control. Percy was low moral standards in comparison to Dunstan and in some ways, feels he is of a higher stature than other human beings. This awkward relationship between him and Dunstan forms the basis of the novel.
Percy is always afraid that his friends might die. He is constantly questioning his “own powers” (29, Riordan) and is unsure he can save his friends. The protagonist is unable to complete his missions properly, because he is always battling his own self confidence. Anyone who is incapable of having confidence in themselves will not obtain their goal. Moreover, when Percy realizes he is able to “destroy” (79, Riordan)
Percy’s relationship with other characters reveal a lot about who he is.The feelings with his mother is that there close. Percy feelings his dad is he thinks he’s a coward and Percy doesn't like his step father. Percy's feelings with his mom is that they are both close because in the text it says “But ever since, my mom went out of her way to eat blue. She baked blue birthday cakes. She mixed blueberry smoothies. She bought blue-corn tortilla chips and brought home blue candy from the shop. This—along with keeping her maiden name, Jackson, rather than calling herself Mrs. Ugliano—was proof that she wasn't totally suckered by Gabe. She did have a rebellious streak, like me.” This shows they are close because he calls her mom and cares about
...ts suicide at the end of the book. As with Dunstan, Percy is influenced by the powerful motivator of guilt. He felt so overpoweringly guilty because of what he did to Ms. Dempster that he committed suicide. If the motivator of guilt had not been present, he would have kept on living.
...th head towards the underworld were Percy’s mother is held in a cave. The reader is able to obverse that Percy as walking in to the most unsafe place and this could potentially be the most danger they have ever encountered. As they enter the secrete path to Hades layer Percy and his allies come across a guard with a boat man who does not allow any living people into the underworld. A problem is created as the man blocks the entrance to the underworld on the other hand Percy explains that nothing will stop him from get his mother back as he is will to do anything to obtain his mothers love. However Annabeth come up with an idea to gives him money. Her plan is successful as the man agrees to give them a ride over the underworld. The next step is get his mother back and return Zeus’s lightning bolt but in order to do that he must meet the god of the underworld hades.
He was the leader of the Argonauts, wielder of Golden Fleece, and trained by a centaur. Who is this fantastic man? His name is Jason! His life was full of adventure and uncertainty. Jason had a very difficult life considering his childhood, he stole the Golden Fleece, and all of his children were murdered.
Percy is immensely brave. He is not afraid to do anything if it meant he could save another's life, like he
Percy Jackson is the main character in this story, who is a demi god, who mortals are after. His name is short for Perseus and his father is one of the big three gods, Poseidon. He is suffering from dyslexia and ADHD, which could be deliberately added to the character by Riordan, to show he is meant to be a hero, and not to do well in school. This shows that school is not what he is good at, and he is destined to be a hero and save people. The character Grover, who plays Percy’s best friend, parallels a Satyr who is human from the waist up and goat from the waist down and is a companion of wine God, Dionysus, who we later learn, is the camp director for Half-Blood Camp.
Another way to compare Jason and Percy is that they each have girlfriends. “Last i checked you were my awesome girlfriend Piper ,” (Riordan 104. “Annabeth was his girlfriend , no sense giving the enemy more leverage than they already had.” ( Riordan 364). These quotes show the comparison between Percy and Jason because each of them has a girlfriend.
He is well known for his bravery, selflessness, and loyalty to his friends. Percy Jackson originally goes on his quest to save his mother from Hades. He realizes that this quest to the underworld could very well be dangerous but he is willing to go anyways. This displays his bravery and selflessness. Another good example of his selflessness is when he is attacked by a monster he draws the attention to himself rather than his two friends with him.
Jason set out for, and made it safely to, Colchis. Once there, he was received by the resident king,
Jason is portrayed as a typical man in Greek society at the beginning of the story. Good-bye to my former plans. I cannot do it. And yet what is the matter with me?
Out of all the guards Percy was the only one that did not show good morals or ethics. Throughout the movie you see Percy do horrible things like squash Mr. Jingles, and not wetting the sponge during the execution. While I watched the movie, it was hard for me fathom how evil of a person Percy was. He may have even been the evilest person on the green mile. I found it extremely ironic that Percy who was wicked, helped monitor inmates that were considered evil.
This is the true start to Percy’s quest. He made a few friends in the camp and they agreed to go on this journey with him. Those accompanying him were his protector Grover and Athena’s daughter Annabeth. They also get some helpful tools fro...
Over the course of this novel, Percy must embark on a quest to clear his name, much like Hercules had to endure his Twelve Labors. These Twelve Labors would prove to be a recurring theme for Percy throughout the entirety of his five-part series. While Hercules abandoned his quest with Jason for the Golden Fleece, Percy did not, and succeeded where the ancient hero had failed. Hercules was also directly referenced in Titan’s Curse in a flashback by Percy’s new friend and Hesperide Zoe, a goddess entrusted with protecting Hera’s apples which Hercules had stolen. Over the long chain of events throughout the entire series, Percy and his friends encountered and battled numerous monsters that Hercules had originally slain in his Twelve Labors, such as Cerberus, a hydra, the Nemean Lion, the Erymanthian Boar, and cleaning the Aegean stables, home to flesh-eating horses.
