The Night of the Broken Glass

The Holocaust has played a significant part of many people lives living in Germany. During the Holocaust, the Night of the Broken Glass occurred; A night of terror for many Jewish people changing the lives of them all. The Holocaust started with the laws leading up to the Night of the Broken Glass; the lack of German reaction or outrage and the lack of response from the world to these efforts to discriminate and persecute the Jews allowed the Nazis to eventually proceed to the final solution.
The rise of Hitler
It began with the rise of Hitler and the Nazi party. Hitler ran for president but lost to Paul Von Hindenburg. Hindenburg soon appointed Hitler as Chancellor in January 1933. President Hindenburg appointed Hitler chancellor after Hitler tried to run for president but was denied (Fitzgerald 28). Hitler was assigned to keep the Nazis under control, which meant he would have to work with political parties within the government, however, that would only back fire on Hindenburg. Hitler continued to take control. He quickly began enforcing power against the Jew in March as the dictator (Fitzgerald 30). August 17, 1938 Laws passed that required Jew to distinguish themselves from the Germans (The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum). Hitler was on the rise.

Learning about ‘The Night of the Broken Glass’ teaches people about how the Holocaust came about. It gives a descriptive detail on how the people were treated and how their lives were affected. Also it teaches people the values of life and things. Learning about the laws the Jews faced and had to follow that lead to the night of the broken teaches people life lessons.
The night of the Broken Glass and the laws leading up to it made the Holocaust significant. It affected many people’s lives and changed the many survivors of the Holocaust. Overall, the Holocaust started with the laws leading up to the Night of the Broken Glass; the lack of German reaction or outrage and the lack of response from the world to these efforts to discriminate and persecute the Jews allowed the Nazis to eventually proceed to the final solution.
