Music
I grew up in a very musical family. My uncles had their own band, my brother tried to start his own band, and my cousin Spencer had his own band. I started playing the flute and piano when I was nine years old, attempted to play bass guitar when I was thirteen, then got into playing the drums when I was fourteen. I’ve always used music as my release from stress too, it’s just always been able to make me relax and get my mind off of everything. My uncles started a band back before I was born. My uncle Byron was the drummer, Uncle Leo was on guitar, My cousin Jase was on the bass and a close family friend Mark was their singer. They call themselves Amarillo, and they do covers of older country western songs. They’ve played at many

My parents started me out in fourth grade playing flute. I went to lessons with this really old lady whose house smelled like cat piss and she was obsessed with Elton John. I got tired of the flute and started to play piano, my parents had gotten me one for christmas and enrolled me in lessons with the same crazy lady. To be completely honest I don’t think I learned anything from this lady. Most of the time we sat there and talked about her childhood and why she got into playing so many different instruments. I got into playing bass guitar shortly after and that didn’t last very long because I could only play like four songs and didn’t really care to learn any others, I also never had anyone to teach me how to really play so I just learned from youtube videos and watching my sister play. Music has always been something I used to get away from all the negative stuff I hear at my house. Growing up I always heard my parents or siblings fight and I would get so tired of hearing it I’d put headphones on and blare some music. It just gives me a sort or calming sensation and gives me something else to wrap my mind around instead of all the other B.S. that I’m usually stuck stressing about. Usually when I’m mad I listen to heavy metal or rock. If I’m happy I listen to pretty much anything it doesn’t matter I’ve never had a favorite genre of music and I probably never
Music is a large consumption of my daily life and the artists I listen to have shaped me in some way. Listening to music is one of my most time
Music has always been one of things I excelled in. In elementary school it was required to be in music but second in 5th grade you have the option to be in band. I was in band for 6 years before I stopped and I went to 5 honor bands. I played tenor saxophone and was 2nd chair all six years. Jazz band was something we had in middle school and high school. We had 2 jazz bands in middle school. Jazz one was for 8th graders and jazz two was 7th grade. I played in both. My first year I played tenor 1 and 2 and the second year I played baritone saxophone. My 9th grade year I played only tenor one. We didn’t have to audition but the students who plays that instrument normally would have first say in who gets 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd part. That
The changes in rock and roll music reflected the mood of the population in the United States during the Vietnam War. Rock and roll, written as rock ‘n’ roll, music was fully born in the 1950’s and formed from electric blues and gospel music. Rock and roll is characterized by electric guitars, a strong rhythm and youth-orientated music. This music became popular because of the children of the decade. Parents called this type of music “noise.” While parents were listening to calm music, their children were listening to rock n roll.
In the summer of 1998 my family fled the newly created independent country of Croatia (Former-Yugoslavia) to the United States. My parents came here in hopes of finding a better life as the economy was still recovering from Croatia’s war of independence. We first settled in Amarillo, Texas for a few months. We traveled around the states for a year or so looking for other refugees. After some searching my parents decided to move to Connecticut as it offered the best incentives for refugees. Listening to stories about this time of my life has given me a chance to appreciate the help we received from various government programs that settled us, clothed us, fed us, and helped us become independent American citizens. Now I want to give back and the best way I know to do this is by teaching the future generations of Americans.
Music has absolutely been an enormous part of my life and who I am. However,
Music is the third most important thing to me in life outside of god and my mom. Music keeps me balanced. Every since I was a baby music was played around me. Jazz was always played around me to soothe me. There would be times when I would be really hyper acting like I couldn't sleep, my mom would put on some jazz and I would be fine. A lot of times I can have a long chore and I say to my self how can I accomplish this, Knowing it will take me forever. So I'll put on some jazz music and in twenty-five minutes I'm finished.
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
I like music but I don't really love it. Some people are always listening to it whenever they can, but that's not really me. I have favorite songs and it's relaxing when you just want to be alone but I'm not a die-hard music lover. I learned to really listen to the lyrics though and get a good story out of it.
From the rock and roll music of today, to the jazz and big band music of the thirties, all the way to tribal drums and the chanting of monks, music is ever present in society. What is it about music that allows it to transcend time? Music is not something that can be easily explained. How would one define the way simple rhythms and melodies can create an entire world? Music is free and undefined. It is not hindered by language barriers, and its only boundaries are within the imagination of the musician or composer. Music is the essence of passion and contains endless possibilities.
My little brother is an excellent musician. He quickly learned to play complicated pieces on the piano within a very short time of starting classes in high school. He has been in choir
Through the years, music has been my refuge and my best friend. Whenever I am happy, sad, disappointed, or angry, I create music - I play, I sing, I write. What had caused me stress once is now my stress reliever. I never thought that something that I once hated the most will be the same thing that I would not be able live without.
Music has always been a big part of my life. Music is not just a bunch of melodies, rhythms, and vibrant sounds. It is a comfort to me. The lyrics of a song challenge my intellect and the rhythms and beats affect my emotions. Music understands me when people don’t. At times it takes me back to an event in my life or even in history. Both consciously and subconsciously my mind remembers the emotions that are attached to a certain song. It can make me feel on top of the world or the complete opposite; music can change the atmosphere and also set the mood. Music has power over my human soul. It soothes it. I cannot imagine not having music to listen to. It is a powerful force and my love for it is incredible.
I stroll across the street, narrowly missing a truck. I continue my walk along the sidewalk to my first class this morning, however the day has already been a mess. I awoke late, took to long getting ready, and am now hastily making my way. I start a song on my iPhone, a youtube stream of Debussy, and my brain takes a trip. The stress, confusion, and hurry of the morning slip away as steam escapes a boiling pot. I am thrust into a world of peace, serenity, of carefulness. My mood improves as I listen, each piano key resonating with a gentle touch. The composure of the piece envelops me in comfort, a delicate, harmonious place somewhere between heaven and earth.
The world is often looking for forms of entertainment, enlightenment, encouragement and most importantly inspiration. The word inspiration means “stimulation or arousal of the mind, feelings, etc, to special or unusual activity or creativity” which helps shape the phenomenal variables. If we know exactly when inspiration would hit or when it’s needed there would be no need to look for it. Often times it can be difficult to predict exactly what type of inspiration one needs which is why music as a form of inspiration can take on many forms. Music is an excellent source of inspiration has the potential to place you into a wonderfully delightful state. Think about it, whether you’re looking for something to make you more
Wagner believed in the unity of drama and music, that the two arts share a connected expression of a single dramatic idea. "10Poetry, scenic, design, staging, action, and music work together to form what he called a Gesamtkunstwerk (total or collective artwork)."
