People aren’t completely good or bad, like Sanger Rainsford. Rainsford’s tale is shown in the short story “The Most dangerous game” written by Richard Connell, Rainsford was a hunter on his way to South America when he fell aboard his ship, he landed on Skull Trap island, once there he went to a château on the island, the chateau was home to General Zaroff a man who grew bored of hunting animals and began to hunt humans for the excitement, Rainsford accepts Zaroff’s being hunted by Zaroff, Rainsford survives Zaroff’s hunt and kills Zaroff. Rainsford is good at heart, not a murderer but he is remorseless.

Once General Zaroff confesses to Rainsford that he hunts humans for the thrill, Rainsford is unsurprisingly shocked, Zaroff tries to speak in favor of it by saying that he only hunts bad people. Seeing that Rainsford still does not approve quickly tries to turn it on Rainsford by saying that Rainsford’s time in war should give him a different opinion than the one he had, Rainsford only says that his time in war “DID not me condone cold-blooded murder.”(49). Zaroff tried to convince Rainsford that the hunting and killing people was justified because they were bad Rainsford disagrees because he believes killing is wrong, even though he saw combat during the war.
Though Rainsford may be good, he is remorseless about some of the things he does. While Rainsford and Whitney were sailing to South America Whitney says that the hunting grounds that they are heading to are good for hunters but not jaguars. As a hunter Rainsford responds with “You’re a big game hunter, not a philosopher who cares how jaguar feels” (40). Rainsford does not care about how the animals he hunts feel, he wouldn't care if they felt fear, or pain he just wants to
