Humans are confronted with events that they don't think about but the actions they do can lead them to greater mistakes. In William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, a long historic fight between the Montague and Capulet families in the city of Verona causes terrible results for the star crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. The struggles in their life and a secret marriage force the young star-crossed lovers to grow up quickly and fate causes them to commit suicide in despair.

He is persistent in pursuing his love for Juliet. For example, when Romeo is with Mercutio, Tybalt tries to instigate “ Gentlemen, for shame, forbear this outrage! Tybalt, Mercutio, the prince expressly hath forbidden bandying in Verona streets:hold Tybalt! good Mercutio!” (Shakespeare, III, I, 85-88). Romeo tries to calm the situation by trying to prevent any problems from happening. Shakespeare makes us see how Romeo is passionate in attempting to solve things to improve the situations between the two families. His compassion allows the audience to form a connection with his character. In addition, Romeo expresses devotion after killing Juliet's cousin when he Romeo asks the nurse “Spakest thou of Juliet? How is it with her? Doth she not think me an old murderer, Now I have stained the childhood of our joy With blood removed but little from her own? Where is she? And how doth she? And what says My concealed lady to our canceled love?”(Shakespeare, III,III, 18-30). Romeo demonstrates frustration and affection because he wanted to know if Juliet still loved him. His emotional character traits makes the play’s tragedy even more tragic because Shakespeare shows us Romeo’s soft side. Juliet demonstrates her passion for the relationship when Romeo proposes to her; Juliet says, “If that thy bent of love be honourable , thy purpose marriage, send me by word tomorrow, by one that i'll procure come to thee” (Shakespeare, II,II, 142-145). This makes us see that Juliet intelligently awaits her true love and lives by this philosophy. She has a mature perspective in love and this adds to the love she has for Romeo. She shows that the relationship and the passion is important to her. Shakespeare demonstrates us in his play how Juliet establishes the importance of the relationship to her. Passion is the core of every relationship and here it is obvious that she has devotion for the relationship. Also, Juliet shows us how she is an emotional person like Romeo. For instance, Juliet says, “O swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon, that monthly changes in her circle orb, lest that thy love prove likewise variable” (shakespeare, II, I, 109-111). Juliet shows that she is very devoted character with Romeo. Romeo and Juliet are captivated by each other's characteristics.
